ANDOVER, MA–As the Chinmaya Movement marks 75 years of spiritual service across the globe, Chinmaya Mission Boston is kicking off the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav—an international celebration honoring the vision and legacy of Swami Chinmayananda and the transformative impact of Vedantic wisdom over the past seven and a half decades.

The year 2026 commemorates 75 years since Swami Chinmayananda began his divine mission of spreading happiness through Vedanta, the timeless and universal science of life. What started in 1951 as a 100-day discourse at a small temple in Pune, India, has since evolved into a worldwide movement encompassing more than 300 centers in 30 countries, along with over 100 educational institutions, hospitals, and diagnostic centers. The Amrit Mahotsav celebrates this remarkable journey and the countless lives uplifted through the teachings of Vedanta.

The global celebration is anchored by a signature spiritual offering: the collective chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa, invoking the strength, devotion, and grace of Lord Hanuman for individual well-being and universal peace.

In the Greater Boston area, Chinmaya Mission Boston—also known as Chinmaya Maruti—will host a grand Amrit Mahotsav celebration on Sunday, May 10, 2026. The centerpiece event will be a Hanuman Chalisa Havan, bringing together more than 300 families, each seated at a havan kund, to collectively chant the Hanuman Chalisa and offer prayers in a powerful shared act of devotion. Lord Hanuman is the presiding deity of Chinmaya Maruti, making this observance especially meaningful for the local Chinmaya community.

The lead-up to the main celebration begins this Saturday, January 17, with a rare and spiritually significant event: a 12-hour continuous chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa. The chanting will be led by Dr. Shashi Dwarakanath, spiritual guide of Chinmaya Maruti, who will chant for the entire 12 hours, embodying the spirit of dedication and devotion that defines the Chinmaya tradition.

The event is open to all and invites individuals and families to participate in invoking peace, strength, and harmony for themselves and the world. Devotees may join in person at Chinmaya Maruti, located at 1 Union Street, Andover, Massachusetts, at any time during the 12-hour period and for any length of time. While a sign-up is available for planning purposes, it is not required, and participation is free of cost.

For those unable to attend in person, a Zoom option will allow remote participation, extending the collective chanting beyond physical boundaries.

As Chinmaya Mission Boston joins centers around the world in celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Chinmaya Movement, the Amrit Mahotsav stands as a tribute to a legacy rooted in wisdom, service, and the enduring pursuit of inner peace and universal well-being.
