NEWBURY PORT, MA—Chicago restaurateur Ganesh Bista has bought Newbury Port’s 180-seat restaurant Mr. India. Chef and owner Bist has relocated from Chicago. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. The new group purchased the restaurant from Ram Karadiya, who owned and managed it for about 14 years.


Hari Khanal, manager of the restaurant, said the new owners have modified the menu. He said the news owners were based in Chicago and decided to move to Newbury Port after the opportunity came to buy this restaurant.
The restaurant specializes in Indian and Himalayan cuisine in an elegant and intimate ambience. Located at 140 High Street in Newbury Port, MA, and is open for lunch buffet form 11:30 AM – 3:00 PM and for dinner form 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM.
The restaurant also specializes in special catering for corporate and social events, wedding, birthday parties, picnic or any other special occasion.

Chef and owner Bista has about 18 years of experience in the Indian and Himalayan cooking. Khanal switched his career to hospitality industry after working in consulting business for companies like Arthur Andersen and Deloitte Touch Tamatshu.
