WASHINGTON – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) announced the Committee will convene a hearing on Wednesday, December 16 to examine Pakistan’s counter-terrorism cooperation, its education reform efforts, and U.S. aid to Pakistan. The hearing, entitled “The Future of U.S.-Pakistan Relations,” will begin at 10 a.m.

Edward_Royce,_official_photo_portrait_color“I’ve long been concerned about Pakistan’s failure to take meaningful action against key Islamist terrorist groups operating within its territory,” said Chairman Royce. “The horrific attack in San Bernardino, and Tafsheen Malik’s education at a Pakistani madrassa, underscore the need for a new approach to confront this terrorist threat. Wednesday’s hearing will give the Committee a chance to examine U.S.-Pakistan counterterrorism cooperation, the effectiveness of U.S. aid, and the concerning rise of schools in Pakistan teaching students hardline, jihadist ideology.”
