WAKEFIELD, MA—Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who has acted in nearly 500 Indian movies and over 100 plays, was recently in Boston for his Hindi drama “Mera Woh Matlab Nahi Tha.” He sat down for an exclusive interview with Chai With Manju celebrity series.

The sold-out play, in which Kher starred with Neena Gupta and Rakesh Bedi, was well-received in Boston.

Kher, who served as chairman of India’s Central Board of Film Certification and New Delhi’s prestigious National School of Drama, talks about his native Kashmir and says “I do not plan my life. I live my life.” .

Kher has been bestowed with the coveted Padma Shri by the Government of India for his contribution to Indian cinema, and has won the Filmfare Award five times.

Kher is also founder and chairman of ACTOR PREPARES, an India-based acting school for talented individuals who wish to pursue careers as actor-performers in the entertainment industry. Established in 2005, it is the only school for actors in the world to be founded by an actor who is professionally active.

He has acted in super hit movies like Karma, Lamhe, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Maara, Khosla Ka Ghosla, A Wednesday and Special 26, among others.
