BOSTON–Sucharita Varanasi, an associate at Boston law firm of Hinckley Allen, has been selected to be a Trustee of the Board of the South Asian Bar Association Foundation of North America, known as SABA Foundation.

As the non-profit/charitable arm of the national South Asian Bar Association, The SABA Foundation aims to increase philanthropy, promote professional development and provide input on public policies, laws and issues that affect the South Asian community.

Varanasi is a member of Hinckley Allen’s Corporate Law group with a specialty in Public Finance, focusing exclusively on all aspects of tax-exempt and governmental finance.

Varanasi focuses her practice exclusively on all aspects of tax-exempt and governmental finance including helping to serve as bond counsel, borrower’s counsel, underwriter’s counsel, bank counsel and disclosure counsel on a broad array of financings.

Varanasi is passionate about human rights. She was recently nominated to serve on the Technology Advisory Board of the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. Immediately prior to joining Hinckley Allen she worked with Physicians for Human Rights, an independent non-profit organization that uses medicine and science to stop mass atrocities and severe human rights violations against individuals, as the Senior Program Officer and MediCapt Project Manager for the Program on Sexual Violence in Conflict Zones. She is a recipient of the W.J. Clinton Fellowship for Service awarded by the America India Foundation conducting a study on child labor legislation in Bangalore, India. Varanasi also supports numerous charitable and civic organizations on a volunteer level.
