‘Batti Gul…’ is entertaining, has substance: Yami
New Delhi– Actress Yami Gautam says her next film “Batti Gul Meter Chalu” is entertaining and has a lot of substance.
“‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ is a social drama on the electricity issue faced by people in the country, especially in small towns,” Yami told IANS.
“And given the kind of films that producer Prernaa Arora (KriArj Entertainment) has been doing and what Shree Narayan Singh (director) has done with ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'”… you can expect a very fine amalgamation of entertainment and a relevant social issue which has been talked about for the very first time,” she added.
The actress is excited to play a lawyer for the first time.
“I think it is very interesting, quirky, entertaining and has a lot of substance at the same time. I am extremely happy to be working with the team. I play a lawyer in a film for the first time. So, I am very happy,” she said.
The film also features actors Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.
Alka Amin roped in for ‘Yeh Pyaar Nahi…’
Mumbai– Actress Alka Amin, who has featured in films like “Dum Laga Ke Haisha” and “Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana”, has been roped in to play the role of Gayatri Sinha in the upcoming show “Yeh Pyaar Nahi Hai Toh Kya Hai”.
The Sony Entertainment Television show is a modern-day love story, written and produced by story teller Dilip Jha.
“I am playing the role of a mother of the male lead Sidhant Sinha (played by Namit Khanna) in the show. The wonderful thing is that I belong to Delhi and it feels nice that we are shooting in the city for our new show ‘Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hai’,” Alka said in a statement.
“My on-screen character is an affectionate homemaker who loves her husband and son a lot. Mrs. Gayatri Sinha is a wise and practical mother who looks out for her son in all situations.
“We are shooting on a fabulous set and the opulence needs to be seen to be believed. I am also planning to bring my family on the sets for them to know about the wonderful place. It’s an advantage that we are shooting in Delhi itself,” she added.
Honoured to share screen space with Amitabh: Ishtiyak Khan
Actor Ishtiyak Khan says he felt honoured to share screen space with megastar Amitabh Bachchan during the shoot of an advertisement.
“I felt grateful and honoured to share screen space with Amitabhji. He is my role model, and a humble person to work with. He made me extremely comfortable during the shoot,” Ishtiyak said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Ishtiyak has bagged a role in “Har Shaakh Pe Ullu Baithaa Hai”. In the new Star Plus show, Ishtiyak plays the brother-in-law of Chaitu Lal, a corrupt politician who is running for elections of an imaginary state.
I connect well with kids: Sarwar Ahuja
Mumbai– Actor Sarwar Ahuja says he connects well with children — and that is the reason behind his bond with child artiste Riva Arora.
“Mere Papa Hero Hiralal” tells the story of a father (Sarwar) fighting against all odds to save his adopted daughter’s life. Riva is seen as his on-screen daughter Gungun.
“I always connect well with kids. With Riva, the magical bond developed almost instantaneously. She is an adorable kid, and we had a wonderful time shooting together on the sets,” Sarwar said in a statement.
“I am delighted that the relationship between the two has grown to such an extent that she calls me ‘Papa’ off-screen as well. It is an honour. I cherish getting so much love and affection from young Riva,” he added.

Krrip protects ‘Jeet Gayi…’ co-star from fire
Actor Krrip Kapur Suri turned a saviour when he saved his “Jeet Gayi Toh Piyaa Morre” co-star Nisha Pareek from a fire which broke out on the show’s set.
Last week, while shooting an important sequence, Nisha’s dupatta caught fire. Krrip ran towards Nisha to rescue her. He removed her dupatta and extinguished the fire. Nisha is seen as Kesar in the Zee TV show.
“Even though it wasn’t a huge fire, the situation was such that it could have significantly burnt Nisha! While the team extinguished it quickly, all I could think about was assisting her and so ran towards her,” Krrip said in a statement.
“Thankfully, the team is well equipped to handle such situations and brought the fire under control in no time. I am extremely glad that everyone is safe and that no one was injured during this incident,” he added.
Lucky to have Ashish as co-actor: Sonarika
Actress Sonarika Bhadoria says she feels lucky to work with actor Ashish Sharma as he helps a lot while shooting for the TV show “Prithvi Vallabh”.
“This show has been a learning experience for me as I have never done full blown action sequences in the past. I feel blessed to have Ashish as my co-actor. He is a senior actor and has done a lot of action shows. Plus, it comes to him naturally,” Sonarika said in a statement.
She added: “He helped me a lot during an action sequence. Occasionally, I would go with the flow and hit him hard which hurt him a little but still, he would maintain patience and calm throughout the shot.”

Sumeet hopes to get noticed in ‘Veerey Ki Wedding’
Mumbai– Actor Sumeet Samnani, who made his debut with Salman Khan-starrer “Sultan”, says he hopes viewers appreciate his work in the forthcoming film “Veerey Ki Wedding”.
Many might remember him as the owner of Kukreja Pressure Cookers in “Sultan”, and the person who sponsors Sultan (essayed by Salman). He will now be seen as Pammi in “Veerey Ki Wedding”, which also features Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda and Jimmy Shergill.
“I am playing the role of Pammi who is Pulkit’s best friend….I am expecting a lot from the film and I hope the viewers like and appreciate my hard and sincere work,” Sumeet said in a statement.
“Earlier my role in ‘Sultan’ as Tiny Kukreja got me recognition. I have come to a conclusion that even character roles can get recognition if they are essayed well. With Pammi’s role, I expect to set a new horizon for myself and wish to get more such interesting roles in future,” he added.
The film is slated to release on March 2.
Avanti latest song deals with domestic violence, bad relationships
Mumbai– Indian-American singer and songwriter Avanti Nagral has unveiled a new track titled “Treated” that emphasises on kind humanitarian behaviour. She says that respect is the number one thing in any kind of a relationship.
Qyuki’s latest project with Avanti is produced by Mumbai-based Flying Carpet Productions.
Inspired by Avanti’s personal experiences along with stories of women who have faced domestic violence, marital rape and bad relationships, the song promotes the importance of taking a stand in any kind of relationship.
“‘Treated’ is a song that I wrote to my 12-year-old self. I’m thrilled for people to hear the song and watch the music video, and I hope that anyone listening to the song is able to take away that respect is the number one thing in any kind of relationship,” Avanti said in a statement.
