Mumbai– Actress Sunny Leone says she gets judged by people for who they assume her to be.
“Something that I always get judged for is ‘who people think I am’. It is extremely easy to judge someone,” Sunny said in a statement.
In sync with her belief, the actress has joined Craftsvilla’s latest campaign #JudgeMeNot — which aims to break stereotypes and shackles of size, shape, colour and choices preferred by women.
“By joining this campaign, I wanted to tell everyone that unless you have walked in someone else’s shoes, you really can’t know the whole story. What helped me rise above judgement was concentrating on being myself and not hurting anyone with my actions. And most importantly knowing in my heart that I am a good human being,” she added.
Talking about campaign, Monica Gupta, Co-founder, Craftsvilla, said: “Through our campaign, we attempt to empower women by not being harsh on themselves, but instead embrace their true self.”
Madhuri to perform at Men’s Hockey World Cup opening night
New Delhi– Actress Madhuri Dixit Nene will be performing at the opening ceremony of the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018 on November 27.
The opening ceremony will highlight the message of the power of a united world.
To showcase the same, the ceremony will feature a theatrical production and dance ballet titled “The Earth Song”. The theme of “The Earth Song” is ‘Oneness of humanity’.
Created, written and directed by Nupur Mahajan, the production will feature Madhuri as the central character — Mother Earth, read a statement.
She will be joined by 1,100 artists. The show will unfold over five acts during a 40 minute performance with Shiamak Davar choreographing. Ranjit Barot has created the original music score.
“For a writer who wants to break the mould, the people of Odisha present the perfect audience. Their inclusive approach together with the cultural and aesthetic edge is the perfect reason to bypass formulaic ceremonies and create something original and intellectual,” Mahajan said.

Rajkummar Rao wraps up ‘Made In China’
Mumbai– Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao has completed shooting of Mikhil Musale’s “Made in China”.
Announcing the schedule wrap, Rajkummar on Wednesday took to Twitter and wrote: “Schedule wrap for ‘Made in China’. What a fun shoot, can’t wait to share it with you guys on the big screen.”
Along with the tweet, the “Stree” actor also shared an image with his team.
The film is hilarious take on a struggling Gujarati businessman (Rajkummar) and the bizarre journey he undertakes to become a successful entrepreneur.
Actress Mouni Roy is set to play Rajkummar’s wife in the movie, which is produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films.
Also featuring actor Boman Irani, “Made in China” is scheduled to release in August next year.
I focus more on character than genre: Sunny Deol
Mumbai– National award-winning Bollywood actor Sunny Deol who is coming up with a new film “Bhaiaji Superhit” says that though he has a tag of an action hero, he does not choose a script based on genre but character and story.
Asked about “Bhaiaji Superhit”, an action comedy, Deol told IANS here: “I focus more on the character than any genre because the film is about storytelling. If the story is good, the character is well written, I go for it.”
Set in Varanasi, the story of the film revolves around ‘bhaiaji’ who wants to be an actor in Hindi cinema.
Deol, who had a great time shooting the film, said: “Since we worked with good actors in the film, every scene turned out right. When good actors collaborate things become interesting.”
“Bhaiaji Superhit”, which also features Preity Zinta, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, and Ameesha Patel among others, is releasing on November 23.
Sabyasachi clarifies Deepika’s wedding sari given by her mother
Mumbai– Ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee has clarified on social media that Deepika Padukone’s sari for her wedding with actor Ranveer Singh was given to him by the actress’s mother Ujjala Padukone.
Sabyasachi had previously claimed that the red and gold sari for Deepika’s Konkani style wedding at the picturesque Lake Como in Italy was designed by the couturier himself.
However on Wednesday, Sabyasachi took to Instagram and said that the sari was a gift to Deepika by her mother, which was handed over to the designer.
“As per Konkani tradition, the bride’s sari is gifted to her by the mother for her wedding. Deepika’s wedding sari was given to us by her mother — Mrs Ujjala Padukone. We have just received that the sari was bought from Angadi Galleria, Bengaluru and we would like to give them due credit for the same,” he wrote.
But Sabyasachi’s clarification did not go well with Deepika’s fans as they started trolling the designer.
This is not the first time Sabyasachi forgot giving credits. Last year, at the time of Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma’s wedding reception the designer took credit for the Indian skipper’s outfit, which was designed by Raghavendra Rathore.
Later Sabyasachi came out with a clarification that they had designed a similar outfit earlier which led to confusion.
Struggled for 14 years to make my own identity: Pankaj Tripathi
Mumbai– Actor Pankaj Tripathi, who is shooting in a small town of Uttar Pradesh for his next “Kaagaz”, says he has faced struggles in his life and added that it took him over a decade to make his own identity in the film industry.
“Kaagaz” is based on the real life of a farmer named Bharat Lal also known as Lal Bihari from a small town in Bihar. He struggled for 18 years to establish his identity. It took him 18 years of legal battle to establish his identity and to acquire his land and property legally.
“After reading the first draft of the (film’s) script without hesitation I agreed to step into the shoes of Bharat Lal. While reading the script I could easily relate the trauma and hardships Bharat Lal could have gone through for 18 years. Like Bharat Lal, I too struggled for 14 years to make my own identity in Bollywood,” Pankaj said in a statement.
Coming from a background of farmers in Patna, Pankaj understands the importance of land for a farmer.
He added: “Before trying my hand at acting I use to cultivate my own land with my father. After passing out of the National School of Drama, I spent many years doing small time roles in Bollywood.
“It took 14 years to shape my destiny, in this whole process I never lose hope and kept on struggling till I carved out my own path in this industry. I have my own experience of long battle in Bollywood, experience of joy, sorrows and achievements the way Bharat Lal has his own tale to tell,”
We have to have gumption as an actor: Kareena Kapoor Khan
Mumbai– Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, who was last seen onscreen in “Veere Di Wedding”, says that actors or actresses have to have gumption to do whatever they feel like doing irrespective of any medium.
Kareena was interacting with the media when she launched her radio show titled “What Women Want with Kareena Kapoor Khan” on Ishq 104.8 FM on Tuesday, here.
When asked whether it is difficult for actresses in the film industry to follow their heart because it’s consistently telling them to be a certain way and to look a certain way and they lose out on roles if they speak up, she said, “I think in any field there would be this issue. We hear about it a lot because we are in the film industry and lot of reporting is done of this field.
“I am sure it’s everywhere but I think today we have lot of opportunities and path-breaking actors be it Radhika Apte and the girl in ‘Sacred Games’ Kubra (Sait – played role of transgender in the web series), so we are having these girls who are fighting back and doing these kind roles which is brilliant. So, I think we have to have gumption as actors or actresses that this is what we are going to do be it on any medium.
“I think actor’s colour, shape or size, nothing matters. If you are putting your best effort then your hard work and talent will succeed and we are building up to that.”
Asked whether the film industry is giving a secure environment to women at the work place, she said, “Of course that’s what we want. We are openly having conversation today. The fact that so many women have come out and spoken, I think that’s a start.(IANS)
