Mumbai– Actress Sonam Kapoor says gender equality is a human issue.

Sonam on Friday retweeted a post by the Senate of Canada. It pointed out how Canada’s Senate has stood for making the country’s national anthem gender-neutral by deleting the word “sons” and changing it for “us”.

Applauding this, the “Neerja” actress tweeted: “Gender Equality is a human issue and we’re entitled to have equal rights. Glad to see Canada taking the lead on this.”

On the Bollywood front, Sonam currently awaits the release of her film “Pad Man”. The film, which delves into menstrual problems and hygiene, is directed by R. Balki.

Slated to release on Friday, “Pad Man” also stars Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte in pivotal roles.

SRK, Katrina, Anushka take rickshaw ride

Mumbai– Superstar Shah Rukh Khan went on a rickshaw ride with his “Zero” co-stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif on the set.

Shah Rukh on Friday tweeted a photograph in which he is seen riding a rickshaw with Katrina and Anushka as passengers. They seem to be enjoying the ride.

“Best memories begin with insane ideas. Girls taking me along for a ride called ‘Zero’. Aanand L. Rai, Katrina and Anushka Sharma,” Shah Rukh captioned the image.

The three stars are shooting for filmmaker Aanand L. Rai’s upcoming movie “Zero”.

The film’s teaser showcased Shah Rukh as a vertically challenged man who seems to be fond of Bollywood.

Red Chillies Entertainment and Colour Yellow Productions have come together for the the film, produced by Gauri Khan. It will release on December 21.

Aamir accepts ‘Pad Man Challenge’, poses with sanitary pad

Mumbai– Superstar Aamir Khan on Friday accepted the #PadManChallenge, sharing on social media a photograph in which he holds up a sanitary pad.

“Thank you Twinkle Khanna. Yes, that’s a pad in my hand and there’s nothing to be ashamed about. It’s natural! Period. ‘Pad Man’ challenge,” Aamir tweeted on Friday.

The actor also challenged superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and megastar Amitabh Bachchan to complete the challenge by holding a sanitary napkin and sharing a photograph.

“Copy, paste this and Challenge your friends to take a photo with a pad. Here I am Challenging Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan,” Aamir added.

The challenge comes close on the heels of the release of “Pad Man”, a film revolving around menstrual cycles. Directed by R. Balki, it stars Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor.

I condemn the airport style: Surveen Chawla

Mumbai– Actress Surveen Chawla says she hardly pays heed to the fashion police and condemns the airport look.

“I don’t care at all. I roam and walk around freely and I condemn the airport style,” Surveen told IANS here.

“I will still walk in and walk out of airport in the most casual outfits, probably my pajamas, shorts and tees, to be very honest… Unless I have to get somewhere in a particular outfit,” she added.

Surveen, who currently has projects like “Sacred Games” and “Haq se”, walked for designer Mahima Mahajan who showcased Whimsical Fantasies 2.0 at her first ever season at Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Spring/Summer 2018.

The line is inspired by the charming world of fairytales and fantasies. It is marked by ecstatic colours and digital botanical motifs mirrored on luscious silk, satin and georgette on pieces that consist of lehengas and anarkalis, all with a modern and edgy hold.

Sidharth Malhotra considers SRK his mentor

Mumbai– Actor Sidharth Malhotra says he is thankful to superstar Shah Rukh Khan for mentoring him and showing him the path to be a better actor while working together on “My Name Is Khan”.

In an appearance on Zoom’s “Yaar Mera Superstar Season 2”, Sidharth spoke about Shah Rukh and his forthcoming film “Aiyaary”, read a statement.

“I was an assistant director for the film ‘My Name Is Khan’ and Shah Rukh Sir shared useful tips on his mantra to being successful in the competitive glamour industry of Bollywood,” Sidharth said.

“He shared valuable advice on paying attention to detail, absorbing and using the props around to enhance one’s performance. My experience was enriching and it was ‘The Best Film school’ filled with fun, confusion, goof ups and a lot of hard work. I am grateful for the experience and thankful to SRK for shaping me into a better actor,” added the “A Gentleman” star.

The episode will air on Saturday.

Nimrat made heads turn in Pooja Shroff’s ruffled lehenga

Mumbai– Nimrat Kaur owned the runway when she walked as a showstopper for designer Pooja Shroff at the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) spring-summer 2018. The actress sported a ruffled ivory lehenga with minimalistic make-up.

Shroff unveiled her line Plis Et Dentelle at the fashion gala at The Showroom Edit in Jio Garden here on Friday.

Nimrat carried with panache the ivory coloured ruffled lehenga teamed with a pretty tie-up choli with zardozi embroidery and paired with a delicate duppata.

“I wanted someone whose sensibility matched my label and I think she is perfect,” Shroff told IANS.

The collection has various fabric manipulations, with pleats in order to present unique silhouettes.

Beautiful and varied hand pleated techniques were the highlights of the line for which the designer has wisely made use of hand embroidery to embellish laces, thereby adding a vintage touch to suit the Indian sensibilities with a contemporary blend.

Hrithik-Tiger’s actioner to release on October 2, 2019

Mumbai– Filmmaker Siddharth Anand’s yet untitled project, which will bring actors Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff together onscreen for the first time, will go on the floors in August, and will release on October 2, 2019.

The new project will be under the Yash Raj Films (YRF) banner. It will also feature Vaani Kapoor. The film is set to go on the floors this August and shooting will wrap up by the end of February 2019 and will open on Gandhi Jayanti.

The release date was announced via a statement by the production house.

Hrithik plays Tiger’s guru in the film — which the makers claim will be a ‘slick face-off thriller that is expected to be a visual spectacle’.

Tiger and Anand are also working on the Indian remake of Hollywood film franchise “Rambo”, which featured Sylvester Stallone.

Remakes should be done properly: Yo Yo Honey Singh

Mumbai– Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh, who has reworked and given a modern touch to songs like “Dil chori” and “Chote chote peg maar”, says recreations should be done properly.

“I try to keep the hook line and the melody of old songs while remaking songs and the new input shouldn’t come out of the blue. It should match with the songs. It should seem like a new song with an old feel… I feel that remakes should be done properly so that we do not get cursed by their original artists,” Singh said in a statement to IANS.

The rapper, who has given hits like “Sunny sunny”, “Blue eyes” and “Brown rang”, says the Hindi film industry now has a lot of great artists.

“Everyone is doing good work. In fact all the new people who have come are very crazy and we are getting to hear good music and lyrics,” added the “Angrezi beat” rapper, who has a huge fan following.

On the collaboration with Hansraj Hans’s song “Dil chori” for “Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety”, he said: “I have heard his songs since childhood. ‘Dil chori’ was a crazy song. (IANS)
