Soha receives letter of encouragement from Big B

Mumbai– Actress-author Soha Ali Khan has received a letter of encouragement from megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who praised her book “The Perils Of Being Moderately Famous”.

Soha on Thursday took to Twitter, where she shared the letter from Amitabh.

The letter read: “The term ‘spine and spunk’ comes to mind on picking up your book … It doesn’t matter how much polite and self-deprecating fluff you have on the outside.

“Even though on the surface you are sort of reticent and shying away from the spotlight, your genuine and funny sense of humour has been skilfully portrayed confirming that you possess a steely something in the middle that says ‘You know what, I’m actually really really good at this, and this is what I can do, and now I have done it’.”

The thespian, 75, wrote that he enjoyed the book immensely.

Soha tweeted: “So honoured to get this in the mail! Thank you so much Amitabh Bachchan for taking the time to write this to me – it is such an encouragement!”

‘Jodhaa Akbar’ still appealing to audiences: Gowariker

Mumbai– Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker says it is an exhilarating feeling that “Jodhaa Akbar”, which clocked 10 years of its release on Thursday, is still appealing to the audience.

Gowariker tweeted an unreleased poster of the Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer historical romance.

“It’s truly an exhilarating feeling that ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ is still appealing to audiences today. Not only in India but internationally too! And I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for giving it so much love. Sharing with you an unreleased poster! Ten years of ‘Jodhaa Akbar’,” he captioned the poster.

The film revolves around Jodhaa, a Rajput princess who is obliged to marry Mughal emperor Akbar for political reasons. Eventually, mutual respect and admiration between the two leads to love between them.

Rajkumar Hirani’s wife to launch book

Mumbai– Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani’s wife Manjeet is set to launch her book, “How To Be Human – Life Lessons by Buddy Hirani”, which revolves around the family’s dog Buddy.

The illustrated book, which will hit the stores in March, is about Buddy who was earlier named Nikku and featured in Hirani’s film “PK”, read a statement.

“It all started with writing blogs. I was very fascinated by my dog Buddy and would capture his shenanigans by writing about him. I made three posts on my blog and wrote 10 and kept them aside, thinking I would post one per week,” said Manjeet.

“The book is about my dog Buddy. Every chapter takes inspiration from Buddy and what he teaches me about life. So I guess, there was a writer deep inside me and Buddy dug it out. A big hug to Buddy,” she added.

“How To Be Human – Life Lessons by Buddy Hirani” traces Manjeet’s attachment with the dog and lessons she learnt on parenting and karma, among other things.

It also reflects on how having a dog in the house can alter an individual’s perspective and change the way everybody experiences life.

Anirudh’s ‘Julie’ an ode to pets

Mumbai– Singer-composer Anirudh Ravichander, known for tracks like “Why this kolaveri di” and “Selfie Bomma”, has released a new track titled “Julie”, which is an ode to “lovers of the furry, four-legged”.

The single is a collaboration between Anirudh and actor-director-writer Vignesh ShivN, read a statement.

Launched on Wednesday, Anirudh says this time he has created a track which holds true to “all our lives”.

“As always it was great working with the talented ShivN and I really hope my fans enjoy listening to Julie” he said.

ShivN and Anirudh have worked on songs like “Enakkena yaarum illaye”, “Avalukena” and “Onnume aagala”.

Salman loves clean comedy shows

Mumbai– Superstar Salman Khan says he loves a clean comedy show, which “doesnt hit below the belt”.

“I had a great time while shooting for the ‘Comedy High School’. It is a clean comedy show, which is funny, but importantly doesn’t hit below the belt. I never felt awkward even for a moment,” Salman said in a statement.

Salman will feature in the premiere episode of “Comedy High School” which will air on Discovery JEET on Saturday.

The show, hosted by Ram Kapoor, presents a light-hearted take on society, culture, education and current affairs through a classroom-based set-up.

It also features actors Gopal Dutt, Paritosh Tripathi, Krishna Bhatt, Jasmeet Bhatia and Deepak Dutta.

Talking about the star cast, Salman said: “Actors like Ram Kapoor, Gopal Dutt have their own style which has never been explored before on television. I have a feeling that the show will deeply engage with the fans across the country.”

Tahir, Jackie to star in short film ‘The Playboy Mr Sawhney’

Mumbai– Actors Tahir Raj Bhasin and Jackie Shroff will soon be seen in an upcoming short film titled “The Playboy Mr Sawhney”.

Tahir on Thursday took to Twitter, where he shared a photograph of himself along with Jackie and Tariq Siddiqui, who will be directing the project.

“Chilling with the uber cool Jackie Shroff and the director to look out for Tariq Siddiqui. Short film alert. Coming soon! Short films, Mumbai, actors, bad boys, gangster, behind the scene,” Tahir captioned the image.

Jackie described the project as a short love story.

“Coming soon. ‘The playboy Mr. Sawhney’, a short love story like none other written and directed by the talented Tariq Siddiqui. Tahir Raj Bhasin,” Jackie tweeted.

Siddiqui says he is honoured to direct Jackie.

Gurdas Maan recalls era of duets

Mumbai– Veteran Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan, who joined the music industry over three decades ago, says back then there was not much scope for solo vocalists.

“I remember the time when I started out. The industry seemed to have been dominated by duets. There was not much scope for solo vocalists. However, convinced with the idea of performing solo, I was hopeful that there was a future for me and solo artistes,” said Gurdas.

“Today, when I look back, I thank God for letting me reach my goal and paving the way for other solo artistes,” added the singer, who will be seen as a guest in the upcoming episode of the reality TV show “Rising Star”.

Hailing the show, he said: “Along with entertaining the viewers, the show shares a valuable message of #UthaoSochKiDeewar which will help our nation progress.”

The episode will air on Colors channel this weekend, read a statement.

It is co-judged by singers Diljit Dosanjh, Monali Thakur and Shankar Mahadevan.

Priyanka seeks legal opinion on Nirav Modi contract

Mumbai– Actress Priyanka Chopra, the global brand ambassador for Nirav Modi, is seeking legal opinion to terminate her contract now that the jeweller has been accused of committing a major banking fraud, her spokesperson said on Thursday.

Amid revelations that Nirav Modi was the prime accused in a Rs 11,515 crore fraud involving the Punjab National Bank, there was speculation that Priyanka was suing the brand for non-payment of dues.

“There are speculative reports that Priyanka Chopra has sued Nirav Modi. This is not true. However, she is currently seeking legal opinion with respect to terminating her contract with the brand in light of allegations of financial fraud against Nirav Modi,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
