Court allows Salman Khan to travel abroad
Jodhpur– Bollywood actor Salman Khan, out on bail in a 1998 blackbuck poaching case, was on Tuesday granted permission to travel to the US, Canada and Nepal.
Judge Chandra Kumar Songara of the Sessions Court here gave the permission soon after Salman submitted a plea.
Salman’s case was presented by senior advocate Mahesh Bora after brief arguments by public prosecutor Pokar Ram.
Salman was granted bail in the poaching case here on April 7 after being sentenced to a five-year jail term.
The actor spent two nights in jail following the court’s verdict, after which he was granted bail.
District and Sessions Court Judge Ravindra Kumar Joshi had asked the actor not to leave the country without the court’s permission. Salman was granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 50,000.
The actor has started shooting for Ali Abbas Zafar’s “Bharat”, which will also feature Priyanka Chopra.
Anurag Kashyap brings out the ‘best’ from Taapsee Pannu
Mumbai– Actress Taapsee Pannu says her “Manmarziyan” director Anurag Kashyap exudes such energy that it makes the “best happen” on the set.
Taapsee, who has finished shooting for the film, on Tuesday shared a photograph of herself along with Kashyap.
“There are some directors who guide you through and some who exuberate such energy that you just cannot help but be your best, give your best and the best happens. You are the latter mister Anurag Kashyap, you are the wind beneath Rumi’s wings. Get well soon… because you have to fight with me more,” Taapsee tweeted.
The film, presented by Aanand L. Rai, also stars Vicky Kaushal and Abhishek Bachchan.
Payal Ghosh to play role inspired by Radhe Maa in ‘Jai Mata Di’
Mumbai– Actress Payal Ghosh will play a character inspired by self-proclaimed spiritual leader Radhe Maa in Saurabh Verma’s directorial venture “Jai Mata Di”.
Payal said in a statement: “After my first film, I was looking for a script which will excite me not as an actor but as a viewer. ‘Jai Mata Di’ is the perfect film. I am currently prepping for the film and since my character is loosely based on Radhe Maa, I have been watching several videos of hers to get into the skin of the character. I am eagerly waiting for the film to start.”
The actress started her career in the south Indian film industry and made her Bollywood debut with the film “Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi”.
“Jai Mata Di” will go on the floors in August, and a major part of the film will be shot in Uttar Pradesh.
Big B clocks a decade of blogging
Mumbai– Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has completed a decade of writing his blog, through which he stays connected with what he calls his “extended family”.
“10 years! April 17, 2008, a few words went out to the world of the airs and in the waves of connection some of them carried a recognise of them and sent some sentiments back and the next and the next and the next and 10 years went by,” Big B wrote on his blog.
Of his fans and followers, Big B said: “I knew no one and neither did any of you and then we all came to know each other and built a home the warmest and most hospitable in the entire world. Does 10 years need celebration? Why 10? Why not 11 or many more or other?” he said.
Big B says the “harmony of togetherness” is the “ultimate celebration”.
He fears when his writing does not garner much response from fans.
“It is not just the continuity of my writings, it is also the continuity of your feelings as well when you do not respond. I fear there has been a loss. A loss is unbearable and so it remains constant,” he said.
Happy street created for Big B’s ‘Badumbaaa’
Mumbai– Umesh Shukla created a special street to shoot Amitabh Bachchan’s “Badumbaaa” for “102 Not Out”. The director says the song reflects the spirit of the film.
“Badumbaaa” features Big B along with actor Rishi Kapoor. The fun and peppy number was shot on a reel location — a special street which was created on a set in Mumbai.
“We wanted to create a lively set for ‘Badumbaaa’. This song reflects the spirit of the film and their characters. So, we wanted to aim at creating a youthful and a vibrant atmosphere for this vivacious song,” Shukla said in a statement to IANS.
“102 Not Out” will portray the relationship between a 102-year-old father, essayed by Big B, and his 75-year-old son, played by Rishi, on the silver screen.
Produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment Films India, Treetop Entertainment and Shukla’s Benchmark Pictures, the film is slated to release worldwide on May 4.
The film is about a centenarian who wants to break the world record of being the oldest man alive, which is held by a 118-year-old Chinese man. He plans to do it by putting his son in an old age home.
Abhishek Bajaj roped in for ‘Bitti Businesswali’
Mumbai– Actor Abhishek Bajaj has been roped in for upcoming show “Bitti Businesswali”.
To be aired on &TV, the show is about a girl earning self-respect with financial independence. Abhishek will be seen as a contractor named Mahi.
“It’s amazing to get a chance to be a part of ‘Bitti Businesswali’. This is a story that needs to be told, it should be heard by every man and woman of our country,” Abhishek said in a statement to IANS.
“The intent here is to instigate a change in the way India thinks about women empowerment and financial independence. This is a great team that I am working with and can’t wait to see audiences’ reaction on the show’s concept,” he added.
The actor, who got married to Akanksha Jindal last year, was also seen in “Santoshi Maa”. (IANS)
