Acting is like investigative work: Radhika Apte
Mumbai– Actress Radhika Apte has said that acting is like an investigative work as it helps to explore different things in life.
“I always take up interesting and inspiring work. In a way, it’s like an investigative work because we get to explore so many things in our life while acting so, I really like being on the sets of films,” Radhika said while interacting with the media here on Tuesday to promote an upcoming film “Bombairiya”.
“Bombairiyaa”, which will be released by SPE Films India, is an independent film which traces life of all characters for just one day.
The film, that stars Radhika in the lead role, along with Siddhanth Kapoor, Akshay Oberoi, Adil Hussain, Shilpa Shukla, Ajinkya Deo and Ravi Kishan, revolves around the theme of witness protection. It is directed by Pia Sukanya.
Talking about nature and basic premise of the film, Pia said, “It’s a comedy-mystery film. It’s very funny and chaotic story. All these three character gets connected with each other with one incident and how it becomes a much larger story that’s what the whole film is actually about.”
Anil Kapoor meets PM Modi in Delhi
New Delhi– Veteran actor Anil Kapoor on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and said he was left inspired by their conversation.
“I had the opportunity to meet our honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modiji today and I stand humbled and inspired in the wake of our conversation. His vision and his charisma are infectious and I’m grateful for the chance to have witnessed it in person,” Anil tweeted along with photographs of his meeting with Modi.
In the photographs, the “Mr. India” actor is seen greeting the PM.
Last week, film fraternity members like Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal also met Modi in the capital. The agenda was to thank him for reducing the GST on film tickets, and to discuss how the film world can be involved more closely in the process of nation building.
Don’t believe in the term ‘character actor’: Raghubir Yadav
Mumbai– Actor Raghubir Yadav, gearing up for the release of his forthcoming film “Blackboard vs Whiteboard”, says he does not believe in the term called ‘character actor in films.
Raghubir has been a part of some critically acclaimed films like “Lagaan”, “Peepli Live”, “Piku”, “Bandit Queen”, “Dil Se..’, “Newton” and “Sui Dhaaga”.
Asked whether character actors are getting importance in content driven films in recent times, he said: “I don’t believe in term called character actor. I feel all actors should be treated equally whether he does a big role or a small role in a film. If you remove a small character from a certain film, then the larger character of that film will not be able to carry an entire film on his own.”
He said a film is a collaborative effort.
“I don’t know why people put actors in character actor category. If your character doesn’t have certain characteristics, then how are you doing a certain role? Whether it’s a small role or a big role, each character has its own characteristics which he brings on-screen.”
On “Blackboard vs Whiteboard”, he said: “This film is based on the education system of our country. It shows the current scenario of the education system, especially in rural areas where people don’t give importance to education. Most of the time, a child’s parents and teachers aren’t interested to educate them but on the other side, education is the most important thing in life.
Never thought of having successful acting career: Shalini Arora
Mumbai– Actress Shalini Arora says she had never thought of having such a successful acting career.
“I have been enjoying my acting career for a decade now. I never thought of having such a successful acting career. I shifted to Mumbai after my marriage and was enjoying my life as a housemaker,” Shalini said in a statement.
“Then my friend asked me to give auditions. I tried and got the role. I’m happy that I got to do popular shows like ‘Balika Vadhu’, ‘Pavitra Rishta’ and ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’,” she added.
She is currently seen in the TV show “Ishq Subhan Allah”.
Anuja Sathe joins ‘Khoob Ladi Mardaani Jhansi Ki Rani’ show
Mumbai– Actress Anuja Sathe has joined the ensemble cast of the upcoming TV show titled “Khoob Ladi Mardaani Jhansi Ki Rani”.
She will be seen playing the role of Janki Devi in the show, based on the life of Manikarnika, Rani of Jhansi.
“I have always been a big fan of this country’s rich history and being a part of it in some way always feels special. I’ll be essaying Janki’s character, which has a grey shade and that is something I am foraying into after a long time,” Anuja said in a statement.
According to Anuja, her role is “quite challenging since there are so many layers to the character.”
“Janki is a woman who has evil motives but tactfully keeps them hidden from everyone in the royal family. To prepare for the character, I have also started reading up literature on Marathi history to understand the story better,” she added.
Also starring actor Anushka Sen in the lead role, “Khoob Ladi Mardaani Jhansi Ki Rani” will air on Colors TV.
Farhan to play boxer in Rakeysh Mehra’s ‘Toofan’
Mumbai– Actor Farhan Akhtar has joined hands with director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra after six years for the upcoming film “Toofan” and will be seen playing a boxer.
Mehra and Farhan last collaborated together for “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”, a biopic on the legendary athlete Milkha Singh.
A “thrilled” Farhan on Wednesday tweeted that the upcoming film will be based on a boxer.
“Thrilled to share that six years after Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and I are reuniting to create ‘Toofan’, a heartfelt story of a boxer. Hope for your best wishes as we embark on this new journey. Love.”
Other details of the films are still under wraps.
The film will be jointly produced by Excel Movies and ROMP Pictures.
Honoured to bring story of Maharaja Chhatrasal on screen: Actor Jitin Gulati
Mumbai– Actor Jitin Gulati says he is honoured to portray medieval Indian warrior Maharaja Chhatrasal in a show titled “Chhatrasal”, the maiden production venture of Abhuday Grover.
Jitin said: “Apart from it being a great opportunity, it is my absolute honour to bring to screen the legend, Maharaja Chhatrasal.”
Grover announced the web show here earlier this week in the presence of Jitin and director Anandii Chaturvedi.
Maharaja Chhatrasal was a medieval Indian warrior of 16th century from the Bundela clan, who fought against the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, and established his own kingdom in Bundelkhand, becoming the founder of Panna State. (IANS)
