Anshuman Jha, Raghubir Yadav Explore Complex Father-Son Rivalry in ‘Om Ka Hari’ Trailer

Mumbai — The makers of the upcoming family dramedy “Om Ka Hari” have released its trailer, offering a glimpse into a complicated father-son relationship shaped by disagreements, affection and years of emotions left unspoken.

The film stars Anshuman Jha and veteran actor Raghubir Yadav in the lead roles, portraying a father and son whose conflicting personalities and perspectives repeatedly bring them into confrontation.

The trailer introduces Hari Prasad, played by Yadav, and his son Om, portrayed by Jha, as they embark on a journey to Varanasi. What begins as a trip with a specific purpose gradually becomes an opportunity for the two to confront their relationship and look at their lives from a different perspective.

Along the way, the story expands to include their larger family, with its own collection of conflicts, affection and chaos.

‘A father who loves, just doesn’t know how to express it’

Yadav described Hari Prasad as a stubborn and opinionated man whose difficult personality masks a deep affection for his son.

“A father and son can disagree about almost everything and still be deeply connected,” Yadav said.

Hari believes he is travelling to Varanasi to prepare for death, but the journey forces him to reflect on his life and his relationship with his family.

“He is stubborn, opinionated, and sometimes completely impossible, but beneath all of that is a father who loves, just doesn’t know how to express it,” Yadav said, adding that much of the film’s humor and emotion comes from that contradiction.

According to the actor, the relationship is recognizable because such conflicts exist in families everywhere.

‘Sometimes the person you fight with the most is also the person you love the most’

Jha said the film deliberately avoids presenting an idealized picture of family relationships.

“What makes Om Ka Hari special is that it doesn’t romanticize family,” he said.

Om struggles to accept many of his father’s words and actions, but his disagreements are rooted in affection.

“Sometimes the person you fight with the most is also the person you love the most,” Jha said.

He added that Om loves his father but has never really learned how to express that love, making their journey to Varanasi particularly significant.

The trip forces father and son to spend time together in a way they may never have experienced before, gradually bringing their complicated relationship into focus.

A dysfunctional family that stays together

Actor Soni Razdan, who plays a key role in the film, described Om Ka Hari as a story about a dysfunctional family that somehow manages to remain together despite its conflicts.

The film explores the idea that families do not necessarily have to be perfect to work.

“Sometimes, family doesn’t have to be perfect to work—it just has to be there,” Razdan said.

Director Harish Vyas said his interest in the story came from the different ways people experience and express love.

“I have always been fascinated by the different ways we experience love, and especially by the ways we fail to express it,” Vyas said.

With Om Ka Hari, he wanted to explore the father-son relationship in which saying “I love you” can sometimes be particularly difficult.

The film marks the third collaboration between Jha and Vyas.

Also featuring Ayesha Kapur in a key role, Om Ka Hari is set to explore family relationships through a mix of humor, conflict and emotion.
