“Four years and 30 kg ago, my dream came true in the maddest possible way with ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’. I’ll cherish this film forever,” Bhumi tweeted.

The National Award-winning film revolves around a boy named Prem essayed by Ayushmann Khurranna, a school dropout, who hesitantly marries an educated but overweight girl, Sandhya. The couple come closer when they take part in a race, which involves Prem carrying Sandhya on his back.

After “Dum Laga Ke Haisha”, Bhumi featured in several movies like “Shubh Mangal Saavdhan” and “Toilet- Ek Prem Katha”. She will next be seen in the forthcoming film “Sonchiriya”.

“It was a very difficult shoot, when we at times shot for 14-16 hours at a stretch,” Huma said in a statement.

“I would often switch my phone off during the shoot so as not to be distracted. I just wanted to essay this role to the best of my abilities,” added the actress, who is currently in Delhi shooting for the show.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mehta, “Leila” is a part of a slate of 17 original made-in-Asia shows announced by Netflix at a conference in Singapore last year. Huma will be joined by Siddharth in “Leila”.

Adapted from an eponymous novel by writer and executive producer Urmi Juvekar, the series is set in the near future and tells the story of a mother’s search for her daughter, from whom she was separated 16 years ago.

She has started practicing yoga. Her trainer advised her to stop smoking if she plans to continue doing yoga.

Initially, she found it difficult to quit smoking but soon health benefits overpowered temptation.

“It’s been two months since I’ve touched a cigarette. I feel fresher and my body is responding to yoga and workouts better. I urge everyone to work towards quitting smoking. It’s amazing… the change one feels after kicking the b***,” Payal said in a statement.

Nishant bats for action sequences in TV shows

New Delhi– Actor Nishant Singh Malkani says more Indian TV shows should have action sequences and characters could be inspired by cine icon Amitabh Bachchan’s films like “Zanjeer” and “Shahenshah”.

He is happy that through his show “Guddan… Tumse Na Ho Paega” he gets to explore the action genre sometimes.

“I really enjoy doing it. I just had an action sequence after the boxing one. It’s really amazing as I get to fight goons and save the day,” Nishant told IANS.

“More Indian shows should have action sequences. I think they should have characters inspired by Amitabh Bachchan’s films like ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Shahenshah’ and ‘Don’. We need to see an ‘angry young man’ in more shows who doesn’t give in to wrong-doings and fights for the right things,” said the actor.

He made his debut on the small screen with “Miley Jab Hum Tum” in 2009, but it was the show “Ram Milaayi Jodi” in 2010 that brought him into the limelight.

Rajeev Khandelwal praises fresh content on digital platforms

Mumbai– Actor Rajeev Khandelwal says fresh content on digital platforms is giving actors a chance to test their mettle.

Rajeev will soon be seen playing a doctor in a VOOT Original series. The shoot will happen amidst the hills in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. The web series will be produced by Bodhi Tree Productions and Aahana Kumra will be paired opposite Rajeev. The shooting for the yet-untitled web series will start from March first week.

“I am excited for this role as it gives me a chance to explore the different facets of a complicated character. As a doctor caught in the middle of a thriller in the spectacular background of Shimla mountains – this is one series that will get the audience hooked,” Rajeev said in a statement.

“Web series and digital platforms are coming up with fresh content that helps us to test our mettle as actors to the fullest. I am happy to be a part of VOOT family and for the experience to unfold,” he added.(IANS)
