Neetu Chandra to celebrate International Women’s Day in New York

New York– Actress Neetu Chandra has been invited by the Consulate General of India, New York to be the chief guest and speaker at the International Women’s Day celebrations on March 8.

The actress and producer will be gracing the event for Superstar Entertainment.

This gala celebration is being jointly hosted by the Consulate General of India, New York and The Federation of Indian Associations NY-NJ-CT.

“I feel so glad to be invited by the Indian Consulate in New York as the chief guest and speaker on the occasion of International Women’s Day,” Neetu said in a statement.

Priyanka Chopra to collaborate with Amazon Prime Video soon

Mumbai– “Quantico” star Priyanka Chopra is in talks with Amazon Prime Video for some projects, and an official announcement will be made soon.

The streaming platform on Tuesday shared that a behind the scenes documentary on the Jonas Brothers is underway. And Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke credited Priyanka for it, and teased about upcoming projects.

“I love Priyanka and she introduced me to Nick Jonas. They sent me a video and we bought it right away and that’s how we came about it,” Salke told IANS in an interview here.

“I love her… So you can look forward to us doing more work with Priyanka,” she added.

When prodded further on the projects which are being discussed, Salke said: “We do have few things on our mind but we haven’t quite finished up the deals… We will have some announcements coming out soon.”

The Jonas Brothers documentary will follow “Sucker”, the band’s first new music release in nearly six years. The comeback of Nick Jonas, Kevin Jonas and Joe Jonas involves more than just a new single.

The film will look at the brothers as they reunite for their upcoming tour, and promises to give fans an intimate look into the lives of Kevin, Nick and Joe.

The Jonas Brothers broke up their band in 2013 after cancelling their tour due to a “deep, creative rift” among the members. At the time, Nick, who is now married to Priyanka, had told People magazine of the break-up: “It’s really hard to say ‘forever'”.

Feel lucky to have an emotional vent as actor: Aahana Kumra

Mumbai– Actress Aahana Kumra, who featured in “The Accidental Prime Minister”, says she feels lucky that she has an emotional vent being in the business of acting.

Aahana was interacting with the media at a panel discussion ‘Evolving Role of Women in the film Industry in India’ here on Tuesday.

She said: “I feel that most of the times, you go through issues from your home environment. There are occasions when your cousins, uncles or aunts do such things to you that scar your childhood and you tend to spend your entire life in that guilt. I feel as actors, we are so lucky that we have an emotional vent.

“There are people who are in other professions who are not able to express themselves, so how does it feel to be like that? I think it’s a blessing for me when I am doing an emotional scene, so that time I go back to a memory when similar things have happened with me. So, it helps me to perform that scene in a better manner but there are people like doctors, engineers, lawyers or police personnel who can’t show their emotions.”

Playing negative roles do take toll: Alka Kaushal

Mumbai– Actress Alka Kaushal says essaying negative roles is not an easy task, adding that coming out of the zone can be difficult for an actor.

Alka has been part of shows like “Swaragini” and “Qubool Hai” on the small screen, and has been mostly seen playing negative roles.

“When I do a negative character, it takes a toll on me. I am very different from the roles that I get to play…But one has to act to do justice to the way the writer has envisioned the character,” Alka told IANS here.

“We have to think what made the person so negative and take such extreme steps. That is a bit difficult,” she added.

My dream is to belt out songs on stage: Kunal Kapoor

Mumbai– Actor Kunal Kapoor says his dream is to be on stage belting out songs for a live audience.

On Wednesday, Kunal shared a photograph of his, holding a mic, on Twitter.

He captioned the image: “Me, speaking at an event. My dream though is, to be on stage belting out songs to an audience. Ain’t happening anytime soon though! Everyone in my family can sing but the singing gene skipped me.”

Ayushmann to play policeman in Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Article 15’

Mumbai– Versatile actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who has embraced a gamut of on-screen characters — from a sperm donor to a blind man — will next be seen essaying the role of a police officer in filmmaker Anubhav Sinha’s “Article 15”.

Sinha unveiled the film’s first look on Wednesday.

Ayushmann said in a statement, “I’m always intrigued by the socio-political situation of our country. We hardly see films which present the situation in an unbiased way.

“Anubhav Sinha is one such director who understands the complexities of our country. I loved ‘Mulk’. It is the most balanced film based on communalism and extremism. And it will be an absolute pleasure to work with him on ‘Article 15’.”

Have ironed out differences with Mohit Malhotra: Tina Dutta

Mumbai– Actress Tina Dutta, who alleged that her “Daayan” co-star Mohit Malhotra touched her inappropriately during the shoot of their show, says they have now “ironed out the differences”.

“Mohit and I have ironed out the differences. We have concluded to make a new start. I don’t have any issues working with him. Our on-screen chemistry works for the show and (we) shall maintain a professional environment for the betterment of the show,” Tina, popular for the show “Uttaran”, said in a statement.

“I am happy that our audience has liked the show (‘Daayan’) and I am sure this new start will be appreciated by all and will put a rest to any further speculation,” she added.

Tina had earlier claimed that Mohit was warned by the makers to keep his behaviour in check.

Manasi Parekh’s advice for new moms in showbiz

Mumbai– Actress-singer-talk show host Manasi Parekh, also a mother, made her Bollywood debut this year with “Uri: The Surgical Strike”. She says that as long as people are good at their jobs, they will always get work even after having children.

The mother of a two-year-old girl has been juggling between motherhood and career. The “Sumit Sambhal Lega” actress has some advice for new mothers.

“Artistes who want to become parents, especially actresses… I would say have a baby only when you’re ready for it. There will be moments when you’ll have to give up on work and things won’t go your way but that little bundle of joy will make it all worth it,” Manasi said in a statement.

“The industry is extremely welcoming and as long as you’re good at your job, you’ll always get work even after children. I made my debut in Bollywood after having Nirvi so, anything is possible,” she added.

Manasi has been doing commercials and also featured in a short film called “Laddoo”.

People bullied me by calling ‘Cobra’: Kubbra Sait

Mumbai– Actress Kubbra Sait said people have bullied her by calling her ‘Cobra’ instead of her name but she feels proud of her identity today.

“I have been bullied for my name. I have been called ‘Cobra’ for my entire life. When I was child, I used to cry and request to change my name but today, I feel proud of my name. I feel so comfortable with my own identity,” she said.

Kubbra was interacting with the media at skin-care brand Olay’s ‘Face Anything’ campaign launch here along with fashion designer Masaba Gupta on Tuesday.

She appeared in many Bollywood movies like ‘Sultan’, ‘Ready’ and ‘City Of Life’ but earned fame with the portrayal of Kuckoo in Netflix India’s show ‘Sacred Games’.

Talking about the ‘Face Anything’ campaign and how she resonates with it, Kubbra said: “I feel people will tell you a lot of things to stop your growth or to make you feel that you are not good enough but when you stare into that moment and say ‘I am better than all of this and I can fight and face anything’ then, you break out of that shield and become a whole new person.” (IANS)
