Malaika Arora to ring in birthday with friends

Mumbai– Actress Malaika Arora is excited to celebrate her birthday in Mumbai with her friends and family after six years.

The Bollywood diva turns 44 on Wednesday.

After six years, Malaika will be in Mumbai on her birthday. Sometimes she spent her birthday holidaying abroad with her family and friends and sometimes travelling for work.

“This is the first time in past 6-7 years that I am here in the city so I decided to bring my birthday in with my friends and family,” Malaika said.

This year, Malaika decided to be in the city and celebrate her special day with her family and all her industry friends. She’s hosting a birthday bash at a five star hotel on Tuesday night.

Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas’ concert kiss goes viral

Los Angeles– Pop star Nick Jonas expressed his love for wife and actress Priyanka Chopra with a mushy kiss during a recent Jonas Brothers concert. Their romantic moment has gone viral on the virtual world.

Nick, who has often expresses his love for his wife during Happiness Begins Tour, kissed Priyanka in the middle of the concert.

During a concert in the US, Nick and Priyanka stole a kiss, and the video of the same is going viral on social media.

In the video, Priyanka and sister-in-law Danielle can be seen standing in the VIP area of the auditorium as Jonas Brothers walk past them. Kevin Jonas kisses his wife Danielle and then, Nick and Priyanka steal a kiss. Joe was missing his wife Sophie as he pretended to reach out to a man for a kiss who was amused at the gesture.

Nick also called out her name before singing “I believe”. Priyanka can be seen blushing as she stands next to Danielle.

Recently, Nick celebrated Karva Chauth for the very first time with Priyanka. He said his wife is incredible in every way and that she has taught him so much about Indian culture and her religion.

Taapsee, Bhumi pledge to support girl child empowerment

Mumbai– Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar have pledged to support the cause of girl child empowerment.

The two actresses joined hands with the NGO Plan India for this purpose.

Taapsee said: “I am very happy to be associated with such a great cause. Empowering girl child, educating them and making them independent, is something which we really need to do right now.”

Adding their bit to the cause, Taapee and Bhumi will also take a pledge for the cause. They will be attend the event and interact with the Plan India NGO children and get photo ops done. They will also handover the cheque to the NGO.

“‘Saand Ki Aankh’ is also about empowering girls and women. I am glad that we can be part of something which stands for positivity and growth,” Bhumi added.

Plan India’s initiative to promote Girl Child is a joint effort with Palladium Mall, Mumbai, and the “Saand Ki Aankh” team.

Releasing this Diwali on October 25, “Saand Ki Aankh” is an inspirational journey of India’s oldest sharpshooters, Prakashi Tomar and Chandro Tomar.

‘Bala’ helped Yami rediscover herself as actor

Mumbai– Actress Yami Gautam says her upcoming film “Bala” is an entertainer that requires each of its actors to relearn and rediscover herself or himself.

The “Uri: The Surgical Strike” actress will be seen playing a TikTok star named Pari in “Bala”, which stars Ayushmann Khurrana.

“Some films are a complete package and this is that movie. It’s an entertainer that requires each of its actors to relearn and rediscover themselves. There are multiple socially relevant themes and none of it compromises on the laughter quotient promised. This is what quality movies are about and each young actor in today’s time finds themselves naturally attracted to such stories these days. I hope we are showered with love from fans and audiences,” she said.

“Bala”, which narrates the plight of a young man who suffers from premature balding, is scheduled to release on November 7.

‘Hotel Mumbai’ made Anupam Kher learn biggest lesson of life

Mumbai– Veteran actor Anupam Kher says working in the film “Hotel Mumbai” made him learn the fact that the biggest lesson of his life was to value humanity above all.

“Hotel Mumbai” is based on the true story of the 26/11 terrorist attack at Taj Mahal Palace hotel on Mumbai, in 2008. The film is set to hit the screens next month.

The film is Kher’s 501st release and he plays Hemant Oberoi, the hotel’s celebrated chef who was instrumental in saving many lives among guests stuck in the hotel on the night of attack.

“The film celebrates the real-life heroes and how they were able to discover their own courage. Sometimes you discover your own courage in a situation like this. As actors, we are widely celebrated but these are the heroes who need to be in the spotlight. This film made me learn the biggest lesson of my life – to value humanity above all,” said Anupam.

“It’s been 35 amazing years for me in this great industry I work in. I have had the fortune to work on such impeccable films and with equally impeccable talent. I think any actor would agree that one doesn’t count the number of movies they do, an actor is greedy for more parts, for better parts and that’s what my journey has been defined by. I’m happy this film, ‘Hotel Mumbai’ is my 501st film, it’s a landmark project for me and for all those brave souls who help continue the spirit of humanity in dire times of need,” he added.

Bhumi Pednekar: ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ a commercial film with sense

Mumbai– Actress Bhumi Pednekar has said that her upcoming release of “Saand Ki Aankh”is a commercial film with sense.

“This is a commercial film with a lot of sense in it. I think whenever a film is given recognition at film festivals across the world and then gets released on the occasion of Diwali, it maintains a perfect balance and gives you a lot of confidence,” said Bhumi.

“Saand Ki Aankh” has been selected as the closing film of the ongoing Jio MAMI Film festival with Star, and opens in the upcoming Diwali weekend. Bhumi Pednekar was interacting with the media at a promotional event of the film with co-actor Taapsee Pannu.

Directed by Tushar Hiranandani, the film is based on the lives of India’s oldest sharpshooters, Prakashi Tomar and Chandro Tomar, essayed in the film by Taapsee and Bhumi.

On her experience of spending time with Prakashi and Chandro Tomar while shooting the film, Bhumi said: “It was really a great experience to meet the Shooter Daadis (Chandra and Prakashi Tomar) because they treat everybody with so much of love and warmth. They have achieved so many things in their lives and they transformed lives of many people, so there is a special aura about them.”

Taapsee opened up about her preparation to a 60-year-old woman in the film: “We are playing the Daadis (grandmothers). In our life, we also have daadis, naanis (maternal grandmothers) and mothers so when you see them, you think about your characters. For us, the relatability factor came from there. Our mothers and grandmothers were our reference points and we caught on to that. I feel happy that the audience has given a great response to the trailer of the film, and I want to make sure they really like these characters and the film.”

Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor play paintball with fans

Mumbai– Ditching their busy shoot schedules, actors Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor took to playing paintball with fans.

Varun and Janhvi’s fun-filled interaction with fans on Monday was actually a part of an initiative called Fankind, which has been launched by Arjun Kapoor’s sister Anshula to raise funds for various causes.

Anshula has already got on board various celebrities to raise funds. Winning fans get to spend time with their favourite star.

Varun shared a photograph on his Instagram stories and wrote: “Thank U @fanofficial and special thanks to @janhvikapoor for being such a sport and sorry for shooting u.”

On the work front, Varun is currently busy shooting for the remake of “Coolie No. 1”, opposite Sara Ali Khan.

While, Janhvi is currently busy shooting for “RoohiAfza”, co-starring Rajkummar Rao.

Tiger Shroff wants to be a complete performer like MJ

New Delhi– Actor Tiger Shroff wouldn’t mind picking up the microphone and singing a song as he wants to be a complete performer like Michael Jackson and Bruno Mars.

The “Heropanti” actor is one of the successful action heroes of Bollywood. He does manage to slip in a few music videos despite having a busy Bollywood career.

“Music videos are a nice breather. They are a little shorter. Music videos are short films in a way. They have a beginning, middle and an ending, so I enjoy that journey,” Tiger, who has featured in music videos such as “Zindagi aa raha hoon main”, “Chal wahan jaate hain” and “Befikra”, told IANS.

“I like how in a short time, you get to express your vision. I like that and I love to dance, so why not?”

Does he plan to do something in the music space like singing a song?

“Yeah, I wouldn’t mind. I am a huge fan of R & B stars like (late singer) Michael Jackson and Bruno Mars. I like the fact that they are complete performers. They sing and dance. I’d like to do that as well someday,” said Tiger, whose latest film “War” has minted over Rs 300 crore in India.

On choosing films, he said: “I don’t have a particular process. I go with my instinct. I hear the narration. It’s the first two minutes that tell me whether I should do the film or not.”

“I take my audience and own strength in mind (while taking up movies).”

“Heropanti”, “Baaghi”, “A Flying Jatt” and “War” — all prove that he has a soft corner for action movies. (IANS)
