Myth that I only want best roles in films: Tabu
Kolkata–Actress Tabu says it is a “myth” that filmmakers feel she will not accept a role that is anything less than the best one. “They think that if they come to me with less than the best role in the film, she will not do it, whether it’s comedy or whatever. They feel, ‘give her the best role in the film or she will refuse it’.

“So that’s the myth they have about me,” the “Chandni Bar” actress said here when asked on the roles that pass her by possibly because certain filmmakers feel she prefers intellectual characters. The National Award winner said she was okay with the labels people ascribe her with.

“People will put a tag that is convenient to put on you rather than what you are. I am happy being who I am,” she said at the Kolkata Literary Meet.

Milkha Singh invites team ‘Saala Khadoos’
Mumbai–Legendary Indian athlete Milkha Singh, whose life’s story inspired the movie “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”, has extended an invitation to the team of “Saala Khadoos”, which is about a boxing coach and his protege. He has invited the film’s entire team to his house in Chandigarh. And the team will be visiting him on January 25. The film is a production by Rajkumar Hirani, who has been promoting “Saala Khadoos” extensively, including at his hometown Nagpur.

Happy with Milkha Singh’s invitation, Hirani said: “We are honoured to be invited by Milkha Singh and are looking forward to having lunch with him.” A source close to the film’s makers said that upon seeing the rushes of “Saala Khadoos”, Milkha Singh is of the opinion that it would help promote the sport of boxing in the country. “Saala Khadoos” is a sports film, featuring R. Madhavan as a strict coach who relentlessly pushes his protege — played by Ritika Singh — to overcome obstacles and achieve her boxing goals.

Milkha Singh is especially happy that a filmmaker of Hirani’s repute is producing such a sports-oriented film, which is written and directed by Sudha Kongara.

Really want to do love story right now: Prachi Desai
Actress Prachi Desai says she’s keen to feature in a love story. And would love it if she gets a co-star who is of her age. “I want to work with actors more my age and do films which are youth-oriented… I’d love to work with (actors) Aditya Roy Kapur and Varun Dhawan,” the 27-year-old, who has earlier co-starred with actors like Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Abhishek Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar, told IANS.

“I really want to do a love story right now, I think doing something more youth-oriented would be a lot fun. It could be an intense story or a rom-com,” added the actress, who has worked in “Rock On!!”, “Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai” and “Bol Bachchan”.

Prachi’s next film is Anthony D’Souza’s upcoming biopic “Azhar”, in which she will essay the role of former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin’s ex-wife Naureen. ‘BHK…’ a comedy drawn from real life, says actor
“BHK Bhalla@Halla.Kom”, a forthcoming comic entertainer, draws from real-life situations faced by a common man in a metropolitan city, says actor Benjamin Gilani. “It’s not an out-and-out comedy, but the overall tone of the film is on a lighter vein. You can neither call the film nor the characters as outright comedy. There are very serious moments as well,” Benjamin told IANS.

“But at the same time, there is not much preaching in the film. It’s about situations, characters and human relationships which are comic but drawn from real life.” Benjamin plays a rich businessman in the film. When his daughter falls in love with a man and wants to marry him, he sets a condition that the man has to first buy a flat in the city with his own money. About his character, Benjamin said: “It’s not a very complicated character. It is very straight-forward.”

“BHK Bhalla@Halla.Kom” is jointly produced under the banner of 9 Production, GM Film Production and RCOM Productions. It is slated for release on February 5.
