BOSTON– Auditions and interviews for A.R. Rahman Scholarship at Berklee will be held in Mumbai, New Delhi and Chennai for the 2016 entering undergraduate class. Berklee is seeking a recipient or recipients for the A.R. Rahman Scholarship, available only to a student or students holding Indian citizenship.
In 2013, Boston-based Berklee established the Berklee India Exchange as a platform for cultural conversation about Indian music through artist residencies, musical collaborations, and performances. The Berklee India Exchange creates a space for Indian students and other musicians from around the world to collaborate and share their distinct musical styles. Clint Valladares is the managing director of the Berklee India Exchange and Annette Philip is the artistic director of the Berklee India Exchange. She also directs the Berklee Indian Ensemble.

Auditions and Interviews:
Representatives from Berklee’s admissions team will be in Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai to conduct auditions and interviews on the following dates.
Mumbai: January 26 and 27
New Delhi: January 30 and 31
Chennai: February 3
• The audition and interview process is a required part of the application process.
• The admissions team travels to every continent except Antarctica to conduct auditions and interviews.
• If students live more than 200 miles/320 km from an audition site, they could do their auditions online.

Scholarship:
• The A.R. Rahman scholarship is a merit-based scholarship we are offering to a student or students in the 2016 entering class.
• After Berklee conferred an honorary doctorate to A.R. Rahman in October 2014, the college established the A.R. Rahman Scholarship.
o It is only available to students from India, meaning it is only available to a student holding Indian citizenship.
o The scholarship may be divided among a few very talented students, or it could go to one student only.

Brown’s visit to India in 2015, and the launch of the Berklee Tandon Global Clinics in Mumbai and Delhi, also in 2015, the Berklee India Exchange is poised to continue empowering students from all backgrounds. In April 2015, President Brown announced the launch of the A.R. Rahman Scholarship, established to help bring a student from India to Berklee to join the 2016 entering undergraduate class.
