Kajol gets quirky as ‘Baazigar’ clocks 26 years
Mumbai– The 1993 Diwali release “Baazigar” was one of Shah Rukh Khan’s earliest blockbusters. Abbas-Mustan’s thriller, co-starring Kajol and Shilpa Shetty, is still remembered for the dialogue “Haar kar jeetne waale ko baazigar kehte hai” and its music, besides SRK’s antihero avatar.
The film completed 26 years on Tuesday, and Kajol shared a quirky boomerang video on Instagram, ushering a wave of nostalgia.
In the video, Kajol is seen winking her left eye to the beats of the film’s superhit song, “Yeh kaali kaali aankhein”.
“Oops! still don’t have black eyes… #26YearsOfBaazigar,” she wrote.
“Baazigar” was the first of many blockbusters that SRK and Kajol would see at the box-office over the years to come, and the film also marked Shilpa’s Bollywood debut.
The film is broadly based on a 1991 British thriller titled “A Kiss Before Dying”.
“Baazigar” chronicled the story of a young man, played by Shah Rukh, who takes an unusual route to unleash vendetta on a tycoon (Dalip Tahil), who had destroyed his parents.
The film also featured Rakhee and Johnny Lever.
Payal Ghosh to celebrate birthday with NGO kids
Mumbai– Actress Payal Ghosh, who will turn a year older on Wednesday, has planned to celebrate her birthday with the children at an NGO here.
“Much of my day would be spent with the kids from the NGO. We would play games, chat a lot and then I have some gifts for them and I will also take some of their favourite dishes.
“It helps me connect to my childhood and makes me a kid again. It’s so important to keep the kid in us alive and sharing love with these beautiful creatures just gets me super happy. So this birthday I would be spending time with the kids,” Payal said.
Payal, who is known for her role in “Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi”, will be next seen in “Jai Mata Di”, helmed by “Mickey Virus” director Saurabh Varma.
Dia Mirza: Feels nice to be able to do the work you love
Mumbai– Actress Dia Mirza takes out time to associate with social causes when she is not pursuing an acting career, and she says it feels nice to be able to do the work you love and enjoy as a human being.
Dia made her digital debut with a web series called “Kaafir” along with Mohit Raina a while back, and she is associated with United Nations and the Save The Children foundation.
“It’s been a very interesting year for me. My last project ‘Kaafir’ was really special. It was such a wonderful story and I feel glad and fortunate to be a part of that story. I am doing really exciting work in the near future as well. I had a great year with the UN (United Nations) and Save The Children foundation. It is nice to be able to do the work that you love, and to be able to continue to expand your opportunities in the areas you enjoy,” said Dia , while interacting with the media at the launch of the social initiative Exceed Cares.
Talking about her association with Exceed Cares, Dia said: “I really like spending time with kids. Today is really special because ‘Exceed Cares’ and Angel Express has come together to work for the betterment of underprivileged and street kids. I feel really happy to be here where we teach these children life skills and things that will help them lead their lives. I also learnt a lot of things from them, so I really had fun spending time with them.”
In Bollywood, Dia will soon be seen in Anubhav Sinha’s “Thappad” starring Taapsee Pannu.
Vidya Balan reveals her all-time favourite movies
Mumbai– Actress Vidya Balan says she loves comedy films, adding that she can’t stop laughing every time she watches Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s 1979 classic “Gol Maal”, starring Amol Palekar and Utpal Dutt.
“I find the old ‘Gol Maal’ crazily funny. Everytime Utpal Dutt says ‘achhaaa’, I can watch that scene on loop and keep laughing. Also, when he and Shubha Khote are running around the house and she hits him with a stick — the scene is just hilarious. I love slapstick!” Vidya said, revealing her love for slapstick comedy on the IMDb Original series “The Insider’s Watchlist”.
“The Dirty Picture” actress also spoke of her favourite Hollywood movie series.
She mentioned the “Before” Trilogy directed by Richard Linklater — which includes “Before Sunrise”, “Before Sunset” and “Before Midnight”.
On the Bollywood front, Vidya is currently busy with her upcoming film “Shakuntala Devi”. She essays the title role of the late mathematics genius Shakuntala Devi in the film, which is set for a summer 2020 release. (IANS)
