Deepika Padukone clocks in 30 mn followers on Instagram

Mumbai– After actress Priyanka Chopra, newlywed actress Deepika Padukone has garnered over 30 million followers on Instagram.

Celebrating the same and thanking her fans for making her reach the mark, Deepika uploaded a video in which she can be seen having fun while doing a moonwalk dance.

“Moonwalking into 30 million…Thank You for the love,” she captioned the video.

It seems 2018 is ending on a good note for Deepika as in November she got married to her long time boyfriend and actor Ranveer Singh in Italy.

Deepika made her Bollywood debut with superstar Shah Rukh Khan starrer “Om Shanti Om”. After that, she featured in films like “Cocktail”, “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani”, “Piku”, “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela”, “Happy New Year”, “Bajirao Mastani” and “Padmaavat”.

She also appeared in Hollywood film “xXx: Return of Xander Cage” starring alongside Vin Diesel.

Deepika is proud of me, says Ranveer Singh

Mumbai– Actor Ranveer Singh, who is gearing up for the release of his forthcoming film “Simmba”, has said that her wife Deepika Padukone is proud of him.

Ranveer was interacting with the media at the promotional meet of “Simmba” along with his co-actors Sara Ali Khan, Sonu Sood and director Rohit Shetty on Wednesday in Mumbai.

Ranveer plays a corrupt cop named ACP Sangram Bhalerao (Simmba) in the film, who turns over a new leaf after he deals with a rape case.

When asked Ranveer what kind of reaction Deepika gave him after watching “Simmba”, he said, “She is very proud of me and as well as Rohit (Shetty) sir. She gave so many compliments to Rohit sir. So, I felt that should praise me as well.”

Adding to Ranveer’s statement, Rohit said, “We have an association since the film ‘Chennai Express’ so, she was very thrilled and very happy.”

“I don’t understand these statistics, number and figures. I am not a businessman. I am an artist so, you should ask me those type of questions,” Ranveer said on being about his expectations on box-office opening for his film “Simmba”.

Apart from Ranveer, Sara Ali Khan, Sonu Sood and Ashutosh Rana in the lead roles, Ajay Devgn will also appear in an extended cameo in “Simmba”. The film will release on December 28.

Ranveer will next be seen in Zoya Akhtar’s “Gully Boy” and Karan Johar’s period epic, “Takht”.

Tanya Sharma wants to explore new places

Mumbai– Actress Tanya Sharma says that she loves travelling and wants to explore different places.

“I want to explore the world,” Tanya said in a statement.

According to the actress, there are plenty of advantages of travelling.

“The list includes gaining new friends, new experiences and new stories. When you start exploring new places, you get a better understanding of the people living there, including their culture, history and background,” she said.

“Meeting different people from vast cultures and societies provides an education that is impossible to get in a traditional school, college or an university. There is no substitute for the real thing,” added the “Saath Nibhana Saathiya” actress.

Scarlett of ‘Baahubali’ fame bags Ekta Kapoor’s show

Mumbai– Model-dancer Scarlett Wilson of “Baahubali: The Beginning” fame features in the new video of the promotional song titled “Dil behla du tera” of ALTBalaji’s web series “Gandii Baat 2”.

“This is the first time that an item song has been shot for a web show and I am excited to have got this opportunity,” Scarlett said in a statement.

“The style is a fusion between the typical desi and western mix, while incorporating my own personal style that was choreographed around me. It’s been composed by Meet Bros and sung by Tia Bajpai,” she added.

Along with her, actresses like Flora Saini and Neetha Shetty also feature in the video.

Jasmin takes up yoga for her role

Mumbai– Actress Jasmin Bhasin has started meditating and practising yoga for her role in the forthcoming show “Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji”.

She will be playing a young woman named Happy who belongs to Punjab and her only motive is to spread happiness wherever she goes.

“Happy is very simple yet interesting. In order to prepare for the role, I have started meditating and practising yoga. I feel that by doing this, I will be able to be happy from within as well as do justice to my character,” Jasmin said in a statement.

“So as a routine, I practise both for an hour every morning. I have already started seeing a change in myself and I feel good about it,” she added.

“Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji” will premiere on January 14 on StarPlus.

Janhvi Kapoor calls Smriti Irani ‘aunty’

Mumbai– Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani was happy to meet actress Janhvi Kapoor, but says she was surprised when she called her aunty.

The former television actress on Thursday uploaded a boomerang video with the “Dhadak” star on Instagram, and captioned it: “The someone shoot me moment when Janhvi Kapoor sweetly apologises for continuously calling you aunty and you say ‘koi baat nahi beta (it’s okay child).”

She used hashtags — #TotalSiyapa, #YeAajKalKeBachche and #AuntyKiskoBola.

Smriti’s hilarious post garnered several comments. Some users posted laughing emoticons on the post while some appreciated her sense of humour.

On the work front, Janhvi will next be seen in Karan Johar’s period drama “Takht” .

Vir Das excited about ‘Happy Patel’

Mumbai– Comedian-actor Vir Das, who is currently working on his next film titled “Happy Patel”, says he is excited about it as it is “uniquely different and has great sense of comedy”.

Written by Vir, the film draws inspiration from Hollywood films “Austin Powers” and “Johnny English”.

“It’s ‘Austin Powers’ meets ‘Johnny English’, both of which are iconic spy agent comedy films. It’s a new edge to comedy and something that hasn’t been done before in India and I have seen these films do well and go on to become successful franchises,” Vir said in a statement.

Though the film is inspired by the Hollywood movies, Vir said his film is a “completely different project and story.” (IANS)
