Ayushmann Khurrana Credits Unconventional Film Choices for His Success

MUMBAI– Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana says his willingness to take creative risks and pursue unconventional stories has shaped his 14-year career in Hindi cinema.

Since his 2012 debut in “Vicky Donor,” Khurrana has built a reputation for choosing films that challenge traditional Bollywood formulas, including “Andhadhun,” “Article 15,” “Shubh Mangal Saavdhan” and “Dream Girl.”

“I have always believed in walking the road less travelled. Whether it is from Vicky Donor, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Dream Girl, Andhadhun to Udta Teer, Yeh Prem Mol Liya or Mupapa, my choices continue to reflect that and I want to keep exploring stories that are content-forward and break away from the expected,” Khurrana said in a statement.

He credited audiences for giving him the confidence to experiment with different genres and storytelling styles.

“It is the audience’s trust in my choices that gives me the confidence to take risks and the freedom to experiment, challenge myself and move between genres.”

Khurrana said the response to his film “Udta Teer” demonstrates that audiences remain receptive to fresh concepts and unconventional narratives.

Rajput credited her husband and family for helping her navigate early motherhood.

“And I think that at that time, maybe what really helped me was the fact that, I had Shahid who was extremely supportive. I had my two sisters who already had kids. It has challenges, but I feel today I wouldn’t have it any other way,” she said.

Rajput recalled that her daughter, Misha, was born shortly before her 22nd birthday, while her son, Zain, arrived two days before she turned 24.

“So I took her on a little ride, and every two seconds,… she dug her nails into me and said, ‘Stop stop stop stop! Roko roko roko roko..’ You know, I was like, ‘But…’ So I was driving again, she said, ‘Stop, stop, not so fast, not so fast..’ And after a while she said, ‘No, I hate bike rides..'” Saif recalled.

The actor joked that he eventually realized Kareena might have agreed to the ride for reasons other than her enthusiasm for motorcycles.

“So I said, ‘Then why are we on this bike?’ Then I thought, ‘Ah… okay, maybe there is something else to it.’ So I think we liked each other, but she did not like the bike..” he said.
