Anushka Sharma named ambassador of travel company

Mumbai– Actress Anushka Sharma has been roped in as the first ambassador of travel company Cox & Kings.

“I am glad to be associated with the world’s oldest travel company Cox & Kings. I love to travel and personally think that travelling opens us up to new incredible experiences and changes the way we look at the world,” Anushka said in a statement.

“Whether you are travelling solo, with your partner or friends, Cox & Kings has a holiday experience for every type of traveller,” she added.

She will be seen promoting the company’s travel offerings in a TV campaign to be released soon, as well as promote the brand across print, television and digital platforms.

“Anushka is known for her versatility, experimentation and unusual personality. She perfectly represents a generation that is energetic, unapologetic and fun loving which makes her the right fit to showcase our innovative holiday offerings,” said Karan Anand, Head, Relationships, Cox & Kings.

Aishwarya to receive Meryl Streep Award for Excellence

Washington– Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be honoured with the inaugural Meryl Streep Award for Excellence at the first Women in Film and Television (WIFT) India Awards.

The Miss World 1994, will receive the award on Saturday at the Hyatt Regency here, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

WIFT India said that Aishwarya will receive the award for showcasing a ‘distinction in her craft and for expanding the role of women within the entertainment industry.’

Apart from Aishwarya, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar will receive the Wyler Award for Excellence in Direction, and “Dhadak” star Janhvi Kapoor will receive the WIFT Emerald Award.

“The Wyler Award is so surreal for me as I grew up in Bombay (Mumbai), got a video player in the eighties and one of the first films I ever saw on it was Ben-Hur,” Akhtar said.

WIFT has been established to honour the best female talent in Bollywood and Hollywood.

Chitrangda Singh to be seen in new food show

Mumbai– Actress Chitrangda Singh has been roped in to be a part of a unique food-based show on AXN, marking her first appearance in the English general entertainment channel space.

Scheduled to air next month, the culinary show is part of an association between hospitality chain Marriott International and AXN India.

Chitrangda’s college degree in food and nutrition and her versatility as an actor, charm and glamour made her an authentic choice for the show, read a statement.

The actress said in a statement: “Food is central in most of our lives and the chefs of Marriott are artists who create magic with ingredients. I have always been curious about cuisines and cultures and my travels across the world have given me the opportunity to try a variety of food.

“This project is a great opportunity to taste some of the finest dishes in world cuisine. Who says work can’t be fun and delicious?”

More details about the show will be announced at an official press conference in October.

Shahid, Anushka, Radhika to get candid at youth summit in Delhi

New Delhi– Bollywood celebrities Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Tiger Shroff, Anushka Sharma, Taapsee Pannu and Radhika Apte will get candid at youth summit India Today Mind Rocks, which will also have known names from politics, business, technology and sports in attendance.

The ninth edition of the event will take place on September 15 at the Indoor Weightlifting Auditorium, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here.

Singer Parmish Verma, YouTube star Bhuvan Bam and entertainer Raftaar will get the youth grooving to their tunes, while sports champions Manika Batra, Lakshya Sen and Mehuli Ghosh will inspire the youth to put their best foot forward.

Corporate market leaders Kris Gopalakrishnan (Infosys co-founder) and Ananth Narayanan (CEO, Myntra and Jabong) will add their wisdom on the steps towards success.

From the political world, Sambit Patra, Spokesperson, BJP, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Spokesperson, Congress and Raghav Chadha, National Spokesperson, AAP, will engage with the youth on why they should vote.

There will a mix of interactive chat shows, music, dance and entertainment.

Shahid Kapoor’s Twitter, Instagram accounts hacked

Mumbai– A day after Shahid Kapoor became a father for the second time, the actor’s Twitter and Instagram accounts were hacked.

A series of tweets, undersigned by Turkish hacker group Ayyildiz Tim, featured on Shahid’s official Twitter page. One of the posts condemned the portrayal of Alauddin Khilji in Shahid-starrer “Padmaavat”, which saw Ranveer Singh play the Delhi Sultan.

Shahid later shared an Instagram Story to clarify that his account was hacked.

He wrote: “My Instagram and Twitter have been hacked. Just got Instagram back, my team working on sorting Twitter. So please know, it’s not me and avoid any interaction.”

Shahid and his wife Mira were on Wednesday blessed with a son. The couple received congratulatory messages from friends, fans and family members.

The actor also took a moment to acknowledge the good wishes.

“Hey guys, thank you for the wonderful wishes,” he added.

Shahid and Mira were already parents to daughter Misha, who was born in 2016.

Ranveer Singh to endorse Kansai Nerolac

Mumbai– Bollywood star Ranveer Singh has been signed on as brand ambassador for paint company Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd.

With this association, the company aims to develop and foster its promise to celebrate the joy of beautifying one’s home and life, read a statement.

Proud of Indian Constitution for axing Section 377: Raizada

Mumbai– Indo-French actress Niharica Raizada is happy that the Supreme Court has axed the law against homosexuality and says she is proud of the Indian Constitution.

The Miss India UK 2010 and runner-up of Miss India Worldwide 2010 said: “I think today the most important emotion that binds us, that defines humanity, is love. And I am so proud of our Constitution that Section 377 in the Indian Penal Court has been struck down.

“I am very happy and proud that Supreme Court judges have given this verdict. Congratulations to India and to all the people who always had that right to love freely and love without any kind of restriction.”

Raizada is granddaughter of celebrated musician O.P. Nayyar. And on Teachers Day, which was celebrated on Wednesday, she not only remembered her greatest teacher but his teachings as well.

Like O.P. Nayyar, Raizada wishes to create new dimension and revolutionary films on her own terms.

She said: “O.P. Nayyar is an inspiration. He believed in his music so much and he knew it would have that long lasting effect on people. He has always worked on his terms. I hope one day I can do revolutionary films in this country on my terms.”

Raizada will be seen sharing screen space with Ajay Devgn, Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor in forthcoming comic film “Total Dhamaal”. (IANS)
