Help every girl child feel hygienic: Akshay Kumar

Mumbai– On Menstrual Hygiene Day on Tuesday, actor Akshay Kumar, who gave a push to conversation on menstrual hygiene with his film “PadMan”, urged people to help women feel hygienic and safe.

“Happy Menstrual Hygiene Day to all the girls, mothers and sisters. Let’s all help every girl child feel hygienic, safe and confident every day of the month. Period,” Akshay wrote on Twitter.

Along with the tweet, he posted a photograph from his movie. He, along with his co-star Radhika Apte among others, are seen holding sanitary pads.

Radhika also wrote: “Happy Menstrual Hygiene Day.”

“PadMan”, directed by R. Balki, is based on Arunachalam Muruganantham, who created a revolution in the field of affordable menstrual hygiene. Arunachalam’s fight against menstrual taboo was even narrated in Twinkle Khanna’s book “The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad”.

Malaika mobbed by selfie-seeking fans

Mumbai– Actress Malaika Arora was surrounded by several selfie-seeking fans, leaving her uncomfortable at a shopping complex here.

In a video that is doing the rounds on the Internet, Malaika is seen trying to make her way out of a mall, but finds it uncomfortable after fans gather around her.

Initially, Malaika obliged and posed for one or two fans, but as the crowd gathered, she was seen trying to make her way to her car.

Malaika was accompanied by her father Anil Arora.

In the video, Malaika’s father is seen helping her to get away from the crowd.

Getting mobbed by crowds is not new for actors.

Earlier this year, actor Nawazduddin Siddiqui was mobbed by his fans in Kanpur. He got a fracture in his hand and a pulled muscle while he was being dragged by a fan while taking a photograph.

Adah Sharma set for web show debut with ‘The Holiday’

Mumbai– Actress Adah Sharma will make her web series debut with “The Holiday”. A major part of the show, to be shown on The Zoom Studios, will be shot in Mauritius.

“I absolutely love to travel and as luck would have it my first digital series is titled ‘The Holiday’. It is a super exciting idea and we are shooting in Mauritius, a breathtakingly beautiful destination,” Adah said in a statement.

The show depicts a group of friends who decide to go for a holiday and the madness that follows.

“I am thrilled to be part of this crazy story of a holiday of a group of people dealing with the reality of what they expected to be an epic outing together,” said Adah, who has featured in Hindi films like “1920” and “Hasee Toh Phasee”.

Anupam Kher calls Kangana his ‘favourite’

Mumbai– Veteran actor Anupam Kher says “Queen” actress Kangana Ranaut, whom he met at the airport here, is his favourite.

“Always a pleasure to meet the one and only and my favourite Kangana,” Anupam wrote on Instagram on Tuesday.

He also uploaded a few photographs of himself with her.

Dressed in a plain white dress, Kangana looked elegant with a pair of white heels and a pair of shades. Anupam too opted white for his airport look. He wore white shirt along with a pair of denim jeans.

Anupam has often praised Kangana a lot on social media. When Kangana claimed that no one from the industry spoke about her performance in “Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi”, Anupam had lauded the actress.

He had tweeted: “Kangana Ranaut is a rockstar. She is brilliant. I applaud her courage and performances. She is also the real example of women empowerment.”

On the work front, Anupam is gearing up for the release of “One Day: Justice Delivered” while Kangana will be next seen in “Panga”.

Shruti Haasan croons for ‘Khamoshi’

Mumbai– Actor-singer Shruti Haasan has lent her voice to a song in Prabhudheva and Tamannaah Bhatia starrer forthcoming horror movie “Khamoshi”.

“I’ve been directed by Prabhudheva sir… I am happy he is a part of the film and what makes it super special is Tamannaah as she is one of my dearest friends. I’m glad to sing in her movie,” Shruti said in a statement.

It is reported that the track is based on the theme of the film.

Having started her musical journey as a playback singer in her father Kamal Haasan’s popular film “Chachi 420” in 1997, Shruti later crooned various numbers in multiple langauges.

As for Bollywood, she is known for singing songs like “Joganiyan” and “Sannata”.

Directed by Chakri Toleti, “Khamoshi” will see Tamannaah in the role of a deaf and mute girl and Prabhudheva as the lead antagonist.

On working with Chakri, Shruti added: “Always happy to lend my voice to songs in films. Chakri is a director I have known for years and he directed the first film I composed music for…So it is special.”

The movie is slated to release on May 31. It also stars Bhumika Chawla and Sanjay Suri in supporting roles.

Aparshakti thanks Tahira for ‘Kudiye Ni’

Mumbai– Bollywood actor-turned-singer Aparshakti Khurana, who is making his debut as a singer-composer with “Kudiye Ni”, has thanked his sister-in-law Tahira Kashyap for directing the music video.

This is for the first time Tahira and Aparshakti collaborated together for the music video, which also features Sargun Mehta.

“Of course this would not have been possible without Bhushan Sir’s support and a few more lovely people that made this happen, and I want to take this opportunity to thank them for their efforts. I want to thank my wonderful sister-in-law Tahira Kashyap for directing this video,” the “Dangal” actor said.

The “Stree” actor also thanked John Edward Eduri and Aditya Dev for “giving me a few days from their lives and arranging/programming music for me”.

The song is produced by T-Series and will release on May 31. (IANS)
