SRK’s smart move: Shifts ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ to August 4

Mumbai– Imtiaz Ali’s next movie “Jab Harry Met Sejal” — starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma — has now been set for release on August 4, thereby averting a box office clash with Akshay Kumar’s “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha”, sources in the know of the development have said.

After months of speculation, it was officially revealed by Shah Rukh, Anushka and Imtiaz through their social media handles late on Thursday night that the movie is titled “Jab Harry Met Sejal” — an obvious take on the Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal.

Interestingly, the title is also reminiscent of Imtiaz’s superhit movie “Jab We Met”.

The romantic drama, widely shot in Prague, Amsterdam, Lisbon and Budapest, marks the third time that the two actors have been paired after “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” and “Jab Tak Hai Jaan”.

As a date, August 4 will allow “Jab Harry Met Sejal” to cash in on a long weekend given that Rakshabandhan falls on August 7 — a Monday — this year. There will also be an Independence Day holiday in the subsequent week.

Additionally, both films will get their own audiences — setting a precedent for the industry where clashes of big films has been resulting in divided and damaged revenues, the sources added.

Looking forward to perform in London: A.R. Rahman

Mumbai–Oscar winning composer A.R. Rahman says he is looking forward to regale music lovers with his July 8 concert in London, which has been hit by two terror attacks.

“Friends and music lovers in the UK, looking forward to being amongst you and performing with my entire team,” Rahman posted on his Facebook page late Thursday night.

Organised by BTOS Productions, the concert — titled Netru Indru Nalai — will celebrate 25 years of Rahman’s musical journey from “Roja” to “Kaatru Veliyidai”.

It will also feature names like Benny Dayal, Neeti Mohan, Haricharan, Jonita Gandhi, Ranjit Barot and Javed Ali.

They will perform at The SSE Arena, Wembley, read the official Facebook page of BTOS Productions.

Later in July, Rahman’s musical journey will also be celebrated at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) extravaganza, where the Mozart of Madras will take the stage during IIFA Rocks in New York.

Adah Sharma

Adah Sharma in Raftaar’s next music video

New Delhi–Actress Adah Sharma is excited about featuring in a new music video for a track by popular rapper Raftaar.

Raftaar, known for songs like “Toh dishoom” and “Dhaakad”, created buzz when he posted a few photographs on Instagram of a lady who was to be seen in the music video. But the eyes were covered, leading to much speculation about who it is.

Confirming her presence in the video, Adah said in a statement: “Yes, I’m doing the video. They thought I was perfect for it. When I received a call for this music video, I instantly said yes with no hesitation. Raftaar’s songs are awesome and this one is super too.”

The actress has worked in films like “1920” and “Commando 2”.

Bank Chor to release with U/A certificate

New Delhi–“Bank Chor” has passed the censor test with a U/A certificate, with minor audio dubs and without any visual cuts.

With actors Riteish Deshmukh and Vivek Anand Oberoi in lead roles, it is the story of three men who choose the worst day possible to rob a bank. The three ‘chors’ — Champak, Genda and Gulab — are simpletons and their banter has no adult humour, read a statement from Y-Films.

The team wanted the film to appeal to family audiences.

“Throughout the making of the film, we kept family audiences in mind and we are so glad that the film has got a rating that will attract all kinds of people to the theatres on June 16,” said Riteish.

Vivek said: “Even though my character plays a badass cop in the film, we refrained from showing him smoking or using any cuss words as we didn’t want to alienate younger audiences and families from the film. So ‘Bank Chor’ now earns the accolade of being one of the cleanest comic thrillers ever.”

The film, directed by Bumpy and produced by Ashish Patil, also features Rhea Chakraborty, Sahil Vaid, Bhuvan Arora, Vikram Thapa and Baba Sehgal.
