Ghazi Attack mints over Rs 15.75 crore

Mumbai–“The Ghazi Attack”, starring actor Rana Daggubati, minted Rs 15.75 crore across India during its opening weekend cumulatively from its Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions. The film’s team is overwhelmed.

Touted as India’s first underwater war film, “The Ghazi Attack” opened to Rs 4.25 crore (all India) on February 17 and maintained a steady growth throughout the weekend by collecting Rs 5.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 6.25 crore on Sunday.

The film’s Hindi version earned Rs 6.70 crore, the makers said in a statement. The movie is said to be based on the 1971 India-Pakistan war.

Rana said in a statement: “The reception of the film in multiple languages in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu has been extremely overwhelming. In my seven years as an actor, I haven’t seen any film that I have been a part of or cinema in general that has been given accolades like this.

“It has also become a very important film for everybody here, for the country itself.”

Actor Atul Kulkarni said: “It’s extremely heartening that the numbers that are turning into the theatres to see ‘The Ghazi Attack’. It’s really overwhelming. What is more overwhelming is the intensity of the response of the audience.”

Kay Kay Menon, who has been hugely appreciated for his role, said: “I am extremely thrilled with the response. It has till now done great business. We are very thankful to the audience.”

Farah Khan

New Delhi–Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan, who has triplets with husband Shirish Kunder, says becoming a mother has taught her priorities in her life.

Farah welcomed her nine-year-old triplets — zar, Diva and Anya — with IVF treatment.

Asked how has motherhood helped her evolve as a person, Farah told IANS over phone: “It teaches priorities in life, so you become less stressed and you know what are the important things in life. I dedicate my time to that.”

The 52-year-old filmmaker says she doesn’t bother about other people and what they say “because it has made me a much happier person. It has made me a kinder person”.

On the work front, Farah is currently seen judging Sony Entertainment Television channel’s ninth season of the singing reality show “Indian Idol”. She also choreographed a dance sequence for the film “Kung Fu Yoga” starring Jackie Chan and Sonu Sood.

Dhanush congratulates Swara on new film’s poster

Actor Dhanush on Monday congratulated and wished actress Swara Bhaskar on the release of her new film’s poster “Anaarkali of Aarah”.

They had worked together in 2013 romantic-drama “Ranjhanaa”, and have remained great friends since then.

“Looking fabulous, Swara. Looking forward. All the very best. Cast your magic spell on us once again,” Dhanush tweeted.

On Monday, filmmaker Karan Johar released the film’s poster which features Swara in a feisty avatar.

In the film, she plays an erotic singer who hails from Aarah, Bihar.

Directed by Avinash Das, the film is slated for release on March 24.

Masakali made me famous: Sonam Kapoor

Remember Sonam Kapoor swaying to the tunes of Oscar-winning music composer A.R. Rahman’s “Masakali” with a pigeon on her head in “Delhi-6”? The actress says the song made her famous.

“Delhi-6”, which tells the story of an NRI, who returns with his ailing grandmother to his homeland and gets caught in a bizarre temple-mosque dispute arising out of monkey man menace in the heart of Delhi, clocked eight years of its release on the siver screen on Monday.

“The song that made me famous! I remember this so well, I was young joyful with no worries in the world,” Sonam tweeted on Monday.

The “Neerja” actress also said that the song was a symbol of freedom.

“‘Masakali’ was a symbol of freedom and love… Abhishek Bachchan and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra… Eight years of ‘Delhi-6’,” she added.

The actress will next be seen in “Veere Di Wedding”. She will be seen sharing screen space with actresses Kareena Kapoor Khan and Swara Bhaskar.

Shivangi’s innocence made me fall for her: Mohsin

Mumbai–Actor Mohsin Khan says his friendship with “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai” co-star Shivangi Joshi has now “blossomed into love”, and that it’s the actress’ innocence that made him fall for her.

There have been speculations that the popular TV actors, who play the lead couple Naira and Kartik in the Star Plus show, are dating. But the couple stayed mum.

Mohsin has now opened up about his relationship with Shivangi.

Mohsin said in a statement: “We have been linked to each other ever since we became part of the show but we chose to avoid all those rumours and not let it affect our friendship or work in anyway.”

“In fact, there was nothing to talk about initially, since we were just friends. Our friendship graduated to love only recently. It’s just been a month and a half. We rang in the New Year with my family. Funnily, we haven’t gone out on an official date yet, owing to our erratic schedule.”

Asked what made him fall for Shivangi, he said: “Shivangi’s innocence made me fall for her. We are still exploring each other. It has been a long friendship and a beautiful journey, which has now blossomed into love.”

The cast of the show will soon fly to Bikaner to begin the shooting of the wedding functions of Naira and Kartik.
