Arsenal Medical, Led by Upma Sharma, Raises $6 Million

WATERTOWN, MA– Arsenal Medical, a platform technology company developing novel, therapeutic in-situ forming materials, has raised $6 million, according to a Securities & Exchange Commission filing.

Arsenal Medical, which is founded by George Whitesides and Robert Langer, is headed by Upma Sharma, who serves as the company’s president. Previously, Sharma worked at Lyra Therapeutics.

Under Sharma’s leadership, Arsenal Medical and Lyra Therapeutics have been awarded more than $50 million in government funding to support product development efforts, according to Sharma’s official bio.

Sharma earned a Ph.D. from Princeton University in Chemical Engineering and a B.S.E. with Honors from Purdue University. During a post-doctoral fellowship in Bioengineering at Rice University, Sharma was awarded a NIH Training Grant in Nanobiology.

Sharma has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed scientific publications and is an inventor on more than 40 issued or pending patents worldwide, including 20 US issued patents.
