BOSTON – Actifio, the copy data virtualization company, announced that it has been named a Visionary in Gartner, Inc.’s recently published Magic Quadrant for Data Center Backup and Recovery Software report. Actifio is the sole vendor identified as a Visionary to be included in the report.
“We are proud to be included in this new Magic Quadrant for Data Center Backup and Recovery Software, and to have been recognized as the lone Visionary in the space by Gartner,” said Ash Ashutosh, Actifio Founder and CEO. “Data is the lifeblood of the modern enterprise, and our technology enables our customers not only to protect their critical data, but to leverage it as an asset for testing and development as they embrace next-generation hybrid cloud architectures. We believe our inclusion in the Magic Quadrant once again validates our vision that enterprise backup data should not be seen as a siloed and stagnant part of an organization, but an asset enabling our customers to become more agile, resilient and cloud-ready.”
In its report, Gartner states, “By 2020, 30% of organizations will leverage backup for more than just operational recovery (e.g., disaster recovery, test/development, DevOps, etc.), up from less than 10% at the beginning of 2016.” Actifio believes that copy data virtualization is the key to unlocking enterprise data from the silo of recovery and utilizing it to make meaningful changes to an organization.
Actifio virtualizes data much the same way a hypervisor virtualizes compute, decoupling increasingly strategic enterprise data from increasingly commoditized enterprise infrastructure. To date more than 1200 enterprises have chosen Actifio’s Copy Data Virtualization platform, in 37 countries around the globe.
