Kriti Sanon excited about ‘Luka Chuppi’
Mumbai– Actress Kriti Sanon is looking forward to the release of “Luka Chuppi”, and says she is happy that the audience is connecting with the concept.
“I am always nervous when my film is releasing. But this time, I am also happy and excited because the audience is connecting with the concept,” Kriti said.
“They are liking the whole concept of the film. So, I want to see how they actually react while watching the film. I feel this is one such film where I want to go to Gaiety cinema to see how audience is reacting to the film,” she added.
“Luka Chuppi” tells the story of a couple who decide to go for live-in and how their whole family gets involved with their idea. Kriti shared her views while interacting with the media at celebrity photographer Dabboo Ratnani’s calendar launch here.
Pressure on me with ‘SOTY 2’, ‘Baaghi 3’: Tiger Shroff
Mumbai– Actor Tiger Shroff, who delivered a successful film in “Baaghi 2” in 2018, says he is under pressure for his forthcoming releases that include “Student of The Year 2” and “Baaghi 3”.
Is Tiger feeling pressure to maintain his success ratio with his upcoming releases post the roaring response to “Baaghi 2”?
“Definitely. There is pressure because I didn’t expect ‘Baaghi 2’ would do the numbers which it did so there is lot of expectations among audience for ‘Baaghi’ as a franchise and not only that, I am also doing ‘Student of The Year 2’ which is a very big franchise,” Tiger said at photographer Dabboo Ratnani’s 2019 calendar launch.
“I am stepping into the shoes of three very big stars (Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra) along with my co-stars who are two new beautiful girls. We have lot of pressure on us,” he added.
Tiger added that it is a big film and “we want the franchise to live on so, we have kept our fingers crossed.”
Talking about his shooting schedule, Tiger said: “I have finished shooting of ‘Student of The Year 2’ and currently I am shooting for ‘Hrithik vs Tiger’ film.”
Apart from ‘Student Of The Year 2″ and “Baaghi 3”, Tiger will also be seen sharing screen space with his childhood idol actor Hrithik Roshan in a yet-untitled film produced by Yash Raj Productions.
Sharing his experience of working with Hrithik, he said: “It was like a dream come true moment for me. After every shot, when I see him on the monitor,I feel like I am dreaming because it has been my childhood fantasy working with him. When we do a high speed shot or an action scene then it feels amazing.”
Literacy essential to battle poverty: Aditi Rao Hydari
Mumbai– Actress Aditi Rao Hydari says education is essential to break the cycle of poverty.
“I truly believe that literacy and education are essential for an individual to realise their full potential and to break the cycle of poverty,” Aditi said in a statement.
Aditi has been one of the foremost supporter of the NGO Teach For Change, which works to improve literacy and reading skills among children from low income communities studying in government schools.
She will also unveil a nationwide launch of the Pega Teach For Change movement — which is an expansion of the initiative to eight Indian cities for the upcoming academic year.
“I am very glad that Teach For Change is launching a nationwide movement and I pledge my support to the initiative and encourage all committed citizens who want to make a difference to sign up for the program and volunteer to teach,” she added.
Sonam is courageous, beautiful: Arjun Kapoor
Mumbai– Arjun Kapoor has praised his sister Sonam K. Ahuja for choosing “Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga” and called her courageous. The actor also said he is proud of the actress and his uncle Anil Kapoor for choosing a script they believed in beyond the perceptions of the world.
Arjun on Tuesday tweeted a childhood photograph of himself along with Sonam and said
that the “Neerja” actress is the first girl in his life that he loved “hanging out with”.
“Me trying to get this Ladki’s attention since childhood and her finally noticing then looking straight at the camera and not me! Sonam from the time I remember you will always be the first ladki in my life that I loved hanging out with.”
He then added that he is proud of her and Anil for choosing a script like “Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga”.
“So proud of you and Anil Kapoor for going out on a limb and choosing a script you believed in beyond the perceptions of the world. You are courageous and beautiful. Proud to have a sister like you. Stay the child at heart that you are and all the best for February 1,” he wrote.
Don’t believe in labels, says Sonam Kapoor
Mumbai– National award winning actress Sonam Kapoor, who is gearing up for the release of her forthcoming film ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga’, has said she doesn’t believe in labels, which are associated with the actors in the film industry.
Sonam Kapoor was interacting with the media at the promotional press conference of ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga’ along with his co-actors Anil Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Juhi Chawla, director Shelly Chopra Dhar and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra in Mumbai on Monday.
Sonam Kapoor is essaying an LGBTQ character in the forthcoming movie.
Same-sex relationships continue to be a taboo in India, despite the Supreme Court scrapping Section 377 that criminalised “unnatural intercourse”. And when it comes to lesbians, there is a further lack of acknowledgement or understanding.
However, ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga’ seems to be talking on a pertinent issue – marriages of middle class, queer and Indian women. The trailer of the film has received a positive response from the audience.
When asked whether she had second thoughts while playing a bold character in the film or not, Sonam said, “I don’t know about bold character but there is one thing that I don’t believe in and that’s ‘labels’. When I decide to do a film or a character, I get encouraged by the fact that nobody else would say yes to it except for me.”
When asked Sonam whether she thinks that she is pushing the envelope for Indian actresses by playing these kind of characters, she said, “I don’t think I am immodest enough to say something like that. I am humble enough to understand that I am certain kind of person and actor. I can’t do what other people do so, I can only do what I can do. I don’t think I am talented enough to do what other people do, So, I am very happy in my space. I am just trying my very best to do what I can do.”
Karisma Kapoor to be showstopper for Jaipur-based designer
Mumbai– Actress Karisma Kapoor will walk the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Summer/Resort 2019 ramp here on February 3 for Jaipur-based designer Punit Balana’s line ‘Maya’.
“I’m excited to walk for Punit Balana at LFW for his outstanding collection called Maya. The silhouette and the print of this entire collection make it fun, yet stylish and very versatile,” Karisma said in a statement.
The actress praised how the designer plays with prints combined with eco-friendly material and hand printing.
‘Maya’ is an ode to the French novel “Madam Bovary”. While the free-spirited Maya sparks the inspiration behind the collection, Balana stays true to his roots mixing his signature block prints, using natural organic dyes, colours and eco-friendly techniques and sculptural shapes to create a stylish line.
“The character of Maya was very inspiring as she lived beyond her means in order to escape the banalities and emptiness of society life. Modern, experimental, headstrong the character broke the shackles of society to live on her own terms,” Balana said of his inspiration.
