Himesh Reshammiya Gets Emotional as Indian Idol Performance Brings Back Memories of Late Father

MUMBAI — Singer and music composer Himesh Reshammiya became emotional during the premiere episode of Indian Idol: Legends Return after contestants Salman Ali and Mohammad Danish performed the song “Main Jahaan Rahoon,” reminding him of his late father.
The song, featured in the Akshay Kumar film Namastey London, held special significance for Reshammiya because it was one of his father’s favorites.
Following the performance, Reshammiya praised the singers before explaining why the song had affected him so deeply.
“Fabulous! Hearing this song again today, I’m sorry, I’m getting a little emotional. My dad is no longer with us, and this was his favorite song too. You guys suddenly sang this song, and it brought back all the memories associated with him,” he said.
Reshammiya reflected on his father’s lasting influence on his life and career, saying that memories of their time together continue to provide comfort.
“I love you, Dad. I miss you a lot,” he said.
The composer added that he believed his father was watching over him and might not have wanted to see him become emotional, but acknowledged how deeply he missed him.
The touching moment came as Indian Idol: Legends Return brought together several familiar performers from previous seasons of the popular singing competition.
The show features returning contestants including Abhijeet Sawant, Amit Sana, Salman Ali, Mohammad Danish, Prajakta Shukre, Sayli Kamble and Rishi Singh.
Reshammiya has also returned as a judge, continuing his association with the television franchise that has helped launch the careers of numerous Indian singers.
The new edition celebrates the musical journeys of former contestants, offering them another opportunity to perform for audiences and revisit songs that have become memorable parts of the show’s history.
The premiere highlighted the emotional connection between music and personal memories, as Reshammiya’s reaction to the performance became one of the episode’s most heartfelt moments. (Source: IANS)
