Indian-Origin Man, 23, Shot Dead in British Columbia in Suspected Targeted Attack

Ottawa — A 23-year-old Indian-origin man was shot and killed outside a commercial complex in Langley, British Columbia, in what Canadian authorities believe may have been a targeted attack.
The shooting occurred around 9:45 p.m. on October 5 in the 6000 block of 200 Street, according to a report by Khalsa Vox.
Officers from the Langley detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) responded to reports of gunfire and found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds in a parking lot near the intersection of 200 Street and 60 Avenue.
Emergency personnel attempted to save the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not publicly identified the victim, who was a Langley resident with roots in Punjab, India.
Approximately 20 minutes after the shooting, police received a report of a vehicle on fire near 232 Street and 75 Avenue. Investigators subsequently discovered a burned sedan that they suspect may be connected to the homicide.
Authorities are examining whether the vehicle was deliberately set ablaze to destroy evidence or conceal the movements of those responsible for the shooting.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is leading the investigation with assistance from the Langley RCMP, Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the British Columbia Coroners Service.
Preliminary findings suggest the victim may have been deliberately targeted. Investigators are also examining the possibility of gang involvement, although police have not confirmed any connection to organized crime.
No suspects have been publicly identified or arrested, and the investigation remains ongoing. (Source: IANS)
