Roop Kumar Rathod Remembers Lata Mangeshkar on Birth Anniversary
Mumbai — Singer Roop Kumar Rathod paid tribute to legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar on her birth anniversary, describing her voice as an emotion that transcended music and touched generations.
Sharing a throwback photograph on social media, Rathod wrote, “Remembering the legendary Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar ji on her birth anniversary.”
“Her voice was more than music—it was an emotion that touched generations and continues to live in millions of hearts,” he added.
Rathod called Mangeshkar a timeless legend whose melodies would remain deeply connected to India’s cultural identity.
“A timeless legend whose melodies will forever remain a part of India’s soul. Happy Birthday in the stars, Lata ji. Your voice will live on forever,” he wrote.
The photograph featured Mangeshkar alongside Rathod, her younger brother and noted music composer Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar, and singer Sunali Rathod, Roop Kumar Rathod’s wife.
Sunali Rathod is also a trained classical and playback singer and has studied under Hridaynath Mangeshkar.
Rathod used the song “Tere Liye” from the 2004 film “Veer-Zaara” as the background music for his tribute. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta.
Rathod and Mangeshkar had also collaborated earlier on the song “Kitni Jaldi Yeh Mulaqat Guzar Jati” from a 1992 film.
Born on September 28, 1929, Lata Mangeshkar began her singing career at a young age and went on to become one of the most influential voices in Indian cinema.
Her decades-long career included songs such as “Aayega Aanewala,” “Lag Ja Gale,” “Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya,” “Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh,” “Tere Bina Zindagi Se,” “Tujhe Dekha To,” “Humko Humise Chura Lo,” “Jiya Jale” and “Luka Chuppi.”
Mangeshkar died on February 6, 2022, at the age of 92. (Source: IANS)
