Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar Attend Krishna Mukerji’s Last Rites
Mumbai — Several Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar, attended the last rites of Rani Mukerji’s mother, Krishna Mukerji, who died Tuesday at the age of 75.
The funeral was held at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu.
Shah Rukh Khan arrived with his wife, Gauri Khan, to pay his respects. Filmmaker Karan Johar and actress Alia Bhatt were also seen arriving to offer condolences to the family.
Actor Anil Kapoor was among several other members of the film industry who attended the funeral.
Earlier Tuesday, the family confirmed Krishna Mukerji’s death in a statement and requested privacy.
“With heavy hearts, we share that Rani Mukerji’s mother Mrs Krishna Mukerji, 75, passed away this afternoon. The family is deeply grateful for your love, prayers, and support, and respectfully requests privacy during this time of immense grief,” the statement said.
Krishna Mukerji was a playback singer and was known for lending her voice to the song “Idd Ke Din Gale Mil Le Raja” from the 1982 film “Teesri Aankh.”
She was married to filmmaker Ram Mukerji, one of the founders of Filmalaya Studios in Mumbai. He was associated with films including “Hum Hindustani” and “Leader.”
The couple had two children, actress Rani Mukerji and filmmaker-producer Raja Mukherjee.
Rani Mukerji has spoken publicly on several occasions about her close relationship with her mother and previously said Krishna Mukerji encouraged her to enter the film industry. (Source: IANS)
