Mika Singh Backs Salman Khan’s Stand Against Age-Shaming and Body-Shaming

Mumbai — Singer Mika Singh has backed Salman Khan’s criticism of age-shaming and body-shaming, saying both the media and celebrities should exercise restraint.

Salman recently raised the issue on “Bigg Boss 20,” criticizing paparazzi for photographing actresses from inappropriate angles and speaking out against trolling based on age, weight and appearance.

Reacting to Salman’s comments, Mika said he agreed with the actor’s concerns.

“Well, I always support Salman bhai. He has spoken quite openly about this, and I would also request the media to put a stop to such things,” Mika told reporters.

“However, there are also artists who actually want people to make videos or take photos of them. So, it takes two to tango; both sides need to exercise some control over this.”

During the “Bigg Boss 20 Weekend Ka Vaar” episode, Salman criticized online trolling targeting people over their age, weight, appearance, family background, professional failures or experiences related to motherhood. He also cautioned paparazzi against photographing celebrities in objectionable or intrusive ways.

Although Salman did not name anyone, his remarks came amid online trolling directed at Katrina Kaif over changes in her appearance after becoming a mother.

Katrina had recently attended Ganpati celebrations with her husband, Vicky Kaif, after which some social media users commented on her weight. Several celebrities later expressed support for her, while Katrina did not publicly respond to the trolling.

Salman became visibly emotional while discussing the issue on the show.

“Suddenly, everyone starts talking about age, saying someone has gotten old. What do you want to troll someone for? Their weight, their looks, their family, their smile, a career flop or becoming a mother? You are merely revealing your own upbringing,” he said.

“Yes, I have turned 60, man. Why do you troll a woman who is pregnant? Everyone gains weight during pregnancy… she gained weight because she was pregnant; she will get fit again when she returns to films. She simply wanted to spend time with her family. Don’t troll,” Salman added. (Source: IANS)
