Ranbir Kapoor Once Revealed Why His Kishore Kumar Biopic Was Shelved

Mumbai — Ranbir Kapoor once revealed that his planned biopic on legendary singer and actor Kishore Kumar was shelved because of legal complications involving the family of a person central to the story.

A clip from Ranbir’s podcast appearance with comedy collective AIB has resurfaced on the Internet, showing the actor explaining why the project did not move forward.

Asked whether the Kishore Kumar biopic was happening, Ranbir said, “It was happening but there is one character’s family or one person’s family didn’t allow us to use that person. And that was the main conflict of Kishore Kumar’s life. So, I hope it happens”.

He said making biopics can be difficult because filmmakers often need permission to depict people connected to the subject’s life.

“Doing a biopic is very tricky because even when you are doing the Sanjay Dutt biopic, there were so many people’s families who called, and said, ‘Don’t write about us’. About his certain ex-girlfriend or certain wife. You can’t use all that unless you have permission. So, it’s tricky to make biopics”, he added.

Ranbir had earlier purchased a land parcel in Ayodhya valued at Rs 3.31 crore. The property covers 2,134 square feet and is part of a 75-acre plotted development on the banks of the Sarayu River.

His purchase follows other high-value investments in Ayodhya by prominent individuals, signaling growing confidence in the city’s emerging real estate and tourism market.

On the work front, Ranbir has “Love & War,” co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, and “Ramayana” in the pipeline. “Love & War” marks Ranbir’s second film with Alia after “Brahmastra” and his second with Vicky after “Sanju.” (Source: IANS)
