Mindy Kaling Says She Was on Bed Rest During Final Weeks of Last Pregnancy
LOS ANGELES — Mindy Kaling says she was confined to bed for six weeks during her last pregnancy.
The 46-year-old actress and writer privately welcomed her third child, a daughter named Anne, in February 2024. She is also the mother of 8-year-old Katherine and 5-year-old Spencer.
“I was on bed rest for my last baby, who is two. The last six weeks, I was confined to bed. It was heaven to just lie in bed, take all of my Zooms and it was like, ‘I have a medical condition,’” Kaling said on the Giggly Squad podcast.
Kaling joked that the medical restriction allowed her to take major work meetings from bed while dressed casually.
“I have to look bad Zooming with Bela Bajaria from bed wearing sweatpants and she just has to deal with it. It’s the best,” she said.
Kaling has also spoken previously about the kinds of characters and stories she feels most comfortable writing.
The actress, who rose to fame as Kelly Kapoor on The Office, said she admires Euphoria and its creator, Sam Levinson, but does not think she could write a similar series.
“I love Euphoria and I think (creator) Sam (Levinson) is like a genius. I think he has a lot to say about things like sex and drug use and addiction and those are incredibly interesting, but we don’t have a ton of experience in that,” Kaling told The Hollywood Reporter.
She said she watches the show intensely but relates more naturally to different kinds of characters.
“I watch that show on the edge of my seat, vicariously, but I feel like nerds lusting over guys is more what we feel comfortable writing about so that’s why we do this. We write about strivers and dorks and people who are underestimated,” Kaling said. (Source: IANS)
