Pritam Teams With Italian Artist Mahmood for ‘Mashooqa’ From ‘Cocktail 2’

MUMBAI, India — National Award-winning composer Pritam has shared details about creating “Mashooqa,” a new song from the upcoming film “Cocktail 2,” starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna.

The track is described as a playful, glamorous and flirtatious number built around the feel of a summer romance. For the song, Pritam collaborated with Italian artist Mahmood and singer Raghav Chaitanya to create a sound that blends Bollywood with Italian musical elements.

Mahmood co-composed the song and wrote and sang its Italian portions, while Raghav Chaitanya added the Hindi vocal flavor to the track. Mahmood’s Italian vocals give the dance number an international twist.

Talking about the collaboration, Pritam said, “Imagine what collaboration with the right artist can bring to the soundscape of a song. Mashooqa, which is shot in Sicily, is made more real and relatable by immensely talented Italian artist Mahmood, whose voice’s texture and singing style elevated the song to another level”.

Mahmood said working on a Bollywood song was a meaningful experience.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the world of Bollywood, the way music, cinema and emotion become one powerful language. Collaborating with Pritam for this film was like stepping into an imaginary world I had admired from afar for a long time. And knowing that some scenes were shot in Sicily makes it even more meaningful, I love the idea of two worlds so rich in culture and emotion meeting through music and cinema,” Mahmood said.

The video features Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in a stylish and flirtatious setting, with a casual summer atmosphere, dance beats and romantic chemistry. The song is built around the excitement of a spontaneous connection and the glamorous chaos of a summer romance.

Raghav Chaitanya said the song stood out because of its mix of cultures.
