Indian American Executive Appointed to California Structural Pest Control Board

WASHINGTON — California Gov. Gavin Newsom has appointed Indian American business executive Yogesh “Yogi” Chugh to the state Structural Pest Control Board as part of a series of appointments across California agencies, the governor’s office said.
Chugh, a Fremont resident, has been executive managing director of S5 Advisory since 2013.
Before that, he held senior roles at PlayStation, Sony Computer Entertainment Media Inc., from 1996 to 2012. He served in senior leadership for customer relationship management technologies from 2001 to 2012 and in consumer services leadership management from 1996 to 2001.
Chugh previously worked as a business services manager at Boston Consulting Group from 1993 to 1996.
The governor’s office said Chugh is a member of Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs and the Foundation for India and Diaspora Studies. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from California State University, San Jose, and a Bachelor of Science degree in sciences from Delhi University.
The appointment does not require Senate confirmation and carries compensation of $100 per diem. Chugh is a Democrat, according to the governor’s office.
Newsom also announced several other appointments across California’s housing, finance and data agencies.
Among them was Subbarao Mupparaju of Sacramento, who was appointed director of the Financial Information System for California, known as FISCal.
Mupparaju has been chief deputy director of FISCal since 2023. He previously served as chief information officer of the California Department of Housing and Community Development from 2021 to 2022 and as chief information officer of FISCal from 2015 to 2021.
Before joining California government, Mupparaju was chief technologist of HP Enterprise Services from 2008 to 2012 and an executive information technology architect for IBM from 1996 to 2008.
The governor’s office said Mupparaju also worked as a senior systems analyst for Tata Consultancy Services from 1992 to 1996. He earned a Master of Science degree in engineering from PSG College of Technology.
California is home to one of the largest Indian American populations in the U.S., with significant communities in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley. Indian-origin professionals have become increasingly active in technology, business, public affairs and state-level advisory roles. (Source: IANS)
