Twinkle Khanna Jokes Karan Johar’s Met Gala Look Belongs on Her Wall

MUMBAI — Twinkle Khanna had a playful reaction to Karan Johar’s dramatic Met Gala look, joking that the filmmaker’s outfit made him look like a work of art.

Khanna shared a picture of Johar from the fashion event on social media and praised his elaborate ensemble with a humorous caption.

“Wah! Now come over wearing this and I will hang you up on my wall you piece of art @karanjohar,” she wrote.

Johar made his Met Gala debut Tuesday in a black outfit featuring intricate embroidery, regal detailing and a cape-like silhouette.

The ensemble, designed by Manish Malhotra, was inspired by the art of Raja Ravi Varma and created for the Met Gala theme “Costume Art.”

Johar also shared a note of gratitude on social media, saying the appearance marked a meaningful moment in his career and creative journey.

“From loving cinema and costume as a wide-eyed dreamer to standing on the steps of THE Met Gala…life really does come full circle in the most unexpected ways. This moment wasn’t just about fashion for me,” Johar wrote.

“About taking the legacy of Raja Ravi Varma and letting it live again… this time, not on canvas, but in motion. To representing India and our culture, our art and our storytelling on the global ‘steps’. Thirty years of friendship and collaboration with Manish Malhotra and still creating firsts together – so grateful to you and your team for this core memory,” he added.

Khanna and Johar have known each other for decades. Johar is the son of filmmaker Yash Johar, while Khanna is the daughter of late actor Rajesh Khanna.
