India Retains No. 1 Spot in ICC Men’s T20I Rankings

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — India strengthened its hold on the top spot in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings after the annual update released Tuesday.

Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India remained No. 1 with 275 rating points. England stayed second with 262 points, while Australia followed closely in third with 258.

The annual rankings update gives full weight to matches played since May 2025 and 50 percent weight to matches from the previous two years. The update reflected India’s continued strength in T20I cricket, including ICC Men’s T20 World Cup titles in 2024 and 2026 and an unbeaten run in bilateral T20I series during the period.

There was no change among the top seven teams. New Zealand remained fourth with 247 points, followed by South Africa in fifth with 244. Pakistan stayed sixth with 240 points, while the West Indies remained seventh with 233.

Bangladesh moved up to eighth after gaining one rating point, while Sri Lanka dropped six points and slipped to ninth. Afghanistan remained close behind in 10th, just one point behind Sri Lanka.

The United States was among the biggest movers, climbing two places to 13th after gaining six rating points. The U.S. moved ahead of the Netherlands and Scotland, which now rank 14th and 15th, respectively.

Namibia remained 16th, while Nepal and Oman each moved up one place to 17th and 19th.

Italy also made a notable gain, jumping three spots to 23rd after adding 11 rating points. Spain and Cyprus also improved, while Mozambique recorded one of the sharpest declines, falling 15 places. (Source: IANS)
