G.V. Prakash Kumar to Star in New Film Directed by ‘Joe’ Filmmaker Hariharan Ram

CHENNAI, India — Actor, producer, and two-time National Award-winning music director G.V. Prakash Kumar is set to headline a new film to be directed by Hariharan Ram, best known for the critically acclaimed hit Joe.

The film will be produced by Lark Studios, which recently delivered back-to-back hits Garudan and Maaman, in collaboration with Parallel Universe Pictures. The project will mark Lark Studios’ third production.

Pre-production work is already underway and progressing quickly, according to sources.

Malavika Manoj, who earned praise for her performance in Joe, will star opposite G.V. Prakash Kumar. Sources said the film will showcase the actor in a completely new light, with Kumar currently undergoing intensive preparation for the role.

Cinematography will be handled by Theni Eswar, known for his visually striking work in films such as Karnan and Vaazhai. Discussions are ongoing with additional cast and crew members, with an official announcement expected soon.

The film is scheduled to begin shooting in June, with location scouting already in progress.

Hariharan Ram gained widespread recognition with Joe, which was both a critical and commercial success. Impressed by his storytelling style, G.V. Prakash Kumar agreed to star in the project and will also compose its music.

Known for balancing both acting and music, Kumar was recently in the news for scoring music free of charge for the hit film Youth, directed by actor-turned-filmmaker Ken Karunas.

“I told G V Prakash anna how nobody had any faith in my vision. He heard the script and scored the music, reimposing faith in me,” Ken Karunas said, noting that the composer did not take any payment for his work.

Actor Dhanush also praised Kumar’s gesture.

“Everybody will have it (referring to money), but they will not have the heart to give it (to others). You need to have a heart to give to others. Although you might have got to know Ken through me or through Karunas, you need to have a (generous) heart to say you will score music for free for his film. Not everybody has it. My appreciation to G V Prakash for not limiting friendship to just words but by showing it in his actions,” Dhanush said. (Source: IANS)
