Shah Rukh Khan Calls Asha Bhosle’s Voice “A Pillar of Indian Cinema”

Mumbai–Actor Shah Rukh Khan has paid a heartfelt tribute to legendary singer Asha Bhosle, describing her voice as “one of the pillars of Indian cinema” following news of her passing at the age of 92.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Shah Rukh shared a photograph of himself affectionately kissing Asha Bhosle on the cheek, alongside an emotional message mourning her loss. “It’s truly sad to learn about Asha Tai’s passing… her voice has been one of the pillars of Indian cinema and will continue to resonate the world over for centuries to come,” he wrote.
Remembering his personal interactions with the iconic singer, Shah Rukh said she always showered him with affection and blessings whenever they met. “A talent that will outlive many, she always showered me with blessings and love and I will miss her. Rest in Peace Asha Tai… love you,” he added.
The actor’s tribute joins a wave of condolences from across the film industry, with several celebrities including Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Hema Malini, Kajol, and Raveena Tandon expressing grief over the loss of the legendary vocalist.
Asha Bhosle was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday and passed away on Sunday at the age of 92.
Over a remarkable career spanning more than eight decades, she recorded nearly 12,000 songs in around 20 languages, leaving behind an unmatched musical legacy. She was honoured with two National Film Awards, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
