WASHINGTON, D.C. — India has emerged as the only South Asian nation enjoying consistent bipartisan support in the U.S. Congress, even as geopolitical polarization strains global institutions and reshapes international alliances, according to a report released Wednesday by One World Outlook.

The report said this sustained congressional endorsement strengthens India’s diplomatic influence in global forums such as the G20 and the United Nations, positioning New Delhi to help shape discussions on digital governance, energy transition, climate resilience, and other 21st-century priorities.

“When US Representatives Ami Bera and Joe Wilson tabled a bipartisan resolution on November 17 reaffirming the strategic depth of the US-India partnership, it marked more than ceremonial solidarity,” the report stated. “Amid shifting global alignments—from wars in Europe and the Middle East to sharpening competition in the Indo-Pacific—the move signals that India’s strategic value is now among the few constants in Washington’s foreign policy consensus.”

The resolution, co-sponsored by 24 lawmakers across party lines, underscores a rare moment of bipartisanship in today’s sharply divided U.S. Congress. According to the report, the broad support reflects a long-term strategic design rather than a relationship driven by circumstance or short-term geopolitical convenience.

“The message to New Delhi is clear—this relationship transcends administrations, personalities, and party lines,” the report said. “That political continuity provides India with something few emerging powers enjoy: predictability.” This stability, it added, ensures that key areas of cooperation—including defense integration, technology collaboration, and supply-chain resilience—will not be derailed by future changes in the White House.

The report highlighted the resolution’s emphasis on India’s central role within the Quad, describing it as recognition of India’s growing weight as a balancing power in the Indo-Pacific.

“As China expands its naval presence in the region and border tensions along the Himalayas persist, Washington’s reaffirmation enhances India’s deterrent posture,” it noted. The report predicted more joint exercises under the COMPACT framework, together with deeper interoperability between Indian and U.S. forces.

One World Outlook also pointed to the potential for expanded co-development of advanced defense platforms, including jet engines, drones, and cyber-defense systems. Such initiatives go beyond conventional arms deals, indicating a deeper level of strategic trust and signaling that India’s defense modernization is increasingly aligned with cutting-edge American military technology.

“At its essence, this resolution is less about restating the obvious and more about recalibrating the possible,” the report concluded. “If both the U.S. and India can translate this vote of confidence into pragmatic outcomes—joint projects, redesigned supply chains, shared innovation ecosystems—the next decade could be defined not just by strategic alignment, but by strategic ascendancy.” (Source: IANS)
