WASHINGTON– The reported meeting between pro-Khalistani figure Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, leader of the banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) outfit, and Harjinder Singh, an Indian-origin trucker linked to a tragic case in the U.S., highlights troubling ties between extremist factions and criminal activity, according to a new report.

Citing multiple investigations, the report underscored that Khalistan-linked groups — particularly SFJ — have been associated with illegal migration networks and drug trafficking.

“These illicit trades involve narcotics like fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine moving across North America. The profits allegedly fund anti-India militancy, referendums, and disruptive protests tied to Khalistani ambitions,” the report published by Khalsa Vox noted.

It warned that such activities undermine lawful community engagement. “While most Sikhs worldwide live honest and constructive lives, defending individuals associated with these activities raises serious questions about where solidarity is being placed. The criminal nexus of extremist Khalistani elements erodes trust and fuels a negative perception of the wider community,” it stated.

The report stressed that Sikh values are rooted in justice, honesty, and responsibility — principles that demand clear separation from individuals or groups linked to violence or illegality. It urged community members to support causes grounded in dignity, peace, and constructive advocacy rather than shadowy dealings.

“Backing groups that thrive on illegality, regardless of ideology, damages the Sikh community’s reputation and future. As dialogue on Sikh identity and rights continues, it must rest on integrity and lawful action,” the report concluded, calling for principled, transparent advocacy that stands apart from criminal exploitation.
