BOSTON— The Indian Circle for Caring USA, Inc. (ICC) will present a special Health & Wellness education initiative featuring the screening of “The Brown Heart,” a powerful new documentary that sheds light on the growing heart health crisis within the South Asian community.
The screenings will take place across four locations in Massachusetts on August 23 and 24, 2025, offering community members a chance to better understand the unique cardiovascular risks faced by South Asians—and what can be done to prevent them.
This is more than a film, it’s a wake-up call, organizers of the documentary screening say.
This educational event is free to attend and open to the public, with registration required by August 17, 2025. Attendees can bring up to four guests and choose the venue and time most convenient to them.
Why This Matters
South Asians are statistically at higher risk for heart disease, often developing symptoms earlier and with fewer warning signs than other populations. “The Brown Heart” addresses these realities head-on, combining medical insight with personal stories to drive home the urgency of prevention and lifestyle changes.
The screening is more than a film viewing—it’s a community health event, featuring:
- Live Q&A with Drs. Nirmal and Renu Joshi, the documentary’s creators
- Insights from Massachusetts-based medical experts serving the South Asian population
- A health resource guide tailored for the New England South Asian community
- Actionable advice on how to mitigate personal and family risk factors.
