45-Year-Old Indian-American Killed by Vehicle Near His Home in Westford; Fundraising Reaches Over $90,000 to Help the Kudva Family

WESTFORD, MA—In a tragic and bizarre accident, Ulhas Kudva died on the spot when he was fatally struck by a vehicle near his residence on Friday in Westford, MA. As of 8:30 pm on Sunday, friends of the Kudva family had raised over $90,000 on GoFundMe. Their goal is to raise $300,000.

Separately, the office of the District Attorney Marian Ryan and Westford Chief of Police Thomas McEnaney confirmed the identity of the pedestrian who died following a motor behicle collison in Westford on Friday as Ulhas Kudva, 45, of Westford.

“At approximately 9:00 pm on Friday, September 21, Westford Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle striking a jogger on Route 110 in the area of Technology Park Drive,” the statement from the District Attorney’s office said. “Upon arrival authorities learned that the operator of a Toyota Highlander had apparently struck a jogger. The jogger was pronounced dead on scene. The driver remained on the scene.”

The statement said that no changes have been filed in connection with this investigation.

“This incident is being investigated by the Middlesex District Attorney’s office, the Westford Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Collission Analysis Reconstruction Section,” the statement said, adding that no additional information is being released at this time.

Friends of Kudva family  have launched a fundraising campaign for the family on GoFundMe. They want to raise $300,000. As of 8:30 pm on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, they had raised $93,653.

“Sharing with utmost grief and sadness our beloved friend Ulhas Kudva went for a jog and was fatally struck by a vehicle near his residence on Friday, September 21, 2018 in Westford, MA and lost his life on the spot,” said a post on GoFundMe page.

Mr. Kudva is survived by his wife Sheela, a 14-year-old son Tejas and an 8-year-old daughter Tanvi, according to his friends’ post on Facebook. This fundraising page has been established for those interested in assisting family during this tragic time and help for their kids future. All donations from this campaign will be going directly to the Kudva family.

Mr. Kudva worked as Executive/Director of Professional Services Engineering at IBM, according his Linkedin profile. Previously, he worked as senior software developer at Medpearl.com, Tata Consultancy Services and Asian Exports. He received Bachelor of Engineering degree from Manipal Institute of Technology.
