BOSTON—About 1,000 entrepreneurs and business executives were joined by an all-star lineup of speakers and panelists at TiE-Boston’s day-long annual entrepreneurial TiE StartupCon conference last week at Copley Marriott Hotel in Boston.

In addition, there were 50-plus exhibitors, representing all types of businesses, said Anuradha Yadav, executive director of TiE-Boston. What was also different this year was that there was significantly a large number of non-Indians attending the event.

“TiE-Boston serves all entrepreneurs so we always strive to have a diverse crowd at our events,” Yadav told INDIA New England News. “We are so appreciative to all of the attendees at TiE StartupCon, our amazing keynotes, great panelists.  We would not have been able to pull together this conference without tremendous volunteer support.”

Pallavi Singh and Shaloo Savla served as Co-Chairs of TIE StartupCon 2016.

This year, the conference had three keynote speakers: Bob Langer, renowned biotechnologist and inventor; Clayton Christensen, author of the Innovator’s Dilemma and Co-Founder of Innosight; and Desh Deshpande, serial entrepreneur, author and philanthropist. The three tracks included “Ideate & Innovate, “Scale”, and “What’s Trending in Tech, Med Tech and Social Entrepreneurship.  Each track had four panels, typically with 4 panelists.

The attendees represented aspiring and experienced entrepreneurs, investors and employers.  The attendees come from different sectors, including tech, life sciences/healthcare, cleantech, and social entrepreneurship.
