NEW DELHI– Amid ongoing speculation about his future in international cricket, Indian batting star Virat Kohli has resumed training in London and thanked Gujarat Titans assistant coach Naeem Amin for assisting with an indoor practice session.

“Thanks for helping out with the hit, brother. Always lovely to see you,” Kohli wrote on his Instagram story, sharing a photo of the session with Amin. In response, Amin reshared the post, writing, “Good to see you, brother! See you soon.”

Amin operates the Mighty Willow Academy, which has facilities in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and London. He was formerly part of the coaching staff for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL). India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya has also previously trained at Amin’s academy.

Since announcing his retirement from both Test and T20 international cricket in June 2024, Kohli has focused exclusively on One Day Internationals (ODIs) and his IPL commitments with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Kohli, who has scored 14,181 runs in 302 ODIs, last played competitive cricket during the IPL 2025 final, where he helped RCB clinch their first-ever title with a crucial 43-run knock against the Punjab Kings. RCB won the match by six runs at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

Fans eager to see Kohli back in action will have to wait until October 2025, as India has no ODI fixtures scheduled before then. A planned three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in August was recently postponed to September 2026 by mutual agreement between the BCCI and the BCB.

Both Kohli and fellow veteran Rohit Sharma—who also stepped away from Tests and T20Is—are expected to return for the ODI leg of India’s white-ball tour of Australia. The series is set to begin on October 19 at Perth Stadium, with subsequent matches scheduled at Adelaide Oval on October 23 and the Sydney Cricket Ground on October 2. (Source: IANS)
