MUMBAI– Vedang Raina continues to showcase his versatility as an artist. Known for his acting chops, the Jigra actor gave fans a glimpse of his singing talent with a recent Instagram post featuring his rendition of the beloved track “Jashn-E-Bahaaraa” from the 2008 historical drama Jodhaa Akbar.
Raina captioned the video simply: “Just jamming to a classic.”
The clip, which highlights Raina’s smooth and emotive vocals, quickly garnered praise from fans and fellow actors alike. Actress Sharvari reacted to the post with a one-word comment: “Wow.”
The original song, composed by music maestro A. R. Rahman and featured in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodhaa Akbar, is considered one of the most iconic romantic tracks in Indian cinema. The film starred Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and portrayed a fictional love story set in the 16th century between Mughal Emperor Akbar and Hindu Princess Jodhaa Bai.
On the work front, Raina is gearing up for a major role in acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s next project. The yet-untitled film will see him sharing the screen with powerhouse talents including Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, and Sharvari.
Scheduled to begin filming in August 2025, the movie is expected to hit theaters during Baisakhi 2026. According to the filmmakers, the story is a contemporary drama with a witty, emotionally resonant narrative that explores the nature of love, belonging, and connection.
Quoting a verse by poet Momin—“Tum mere paas hote ho goya, Jab koi doosra nahin hota” (“You are with me, it seems, when there is no one else”)—Imtiaz Ali reflected on the film’s deeper themes. “Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone’s heart?” he asked.
“This is a film with a big heart. It’s set on a large canvas, but it tells a very personal story. It’s about a boy and a girl, but also about a country,” Ali added. “Wish us well as we dive into this dynamic story. We hope to return next year with a cinematic experience that truly touches the heart.”
Additional details about the cast and crew are still under wraps, but the film will mark Raina’s first on-screen pairing with Diljit and Sharvari. (Source: IANS)
