LUCKNOW– In a significant milestone, Uttar Pradesh has surged from 29th to 18th place in India’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Index, moving from the ‘Performer’ category to the more prestigious ‘Front Runner’ category.
The remarkable improvement was noted in the recently released national rankings, reflecting Uttar Pradesh’s strong progress across key development metrics.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while chairing a high-level review meeting on Tuesday, hailed the achievement as a landmark for the state.
“This is the result of clear policy direction, effective implementation of schemes, and active public participation,” the Chief Minister said.
He emphasized that Uttar Pradesh’s progress is not merely about improved rankings, but about meaningful change aimed at uplifting every section of society, especially the underprivileged and marginalized.
CM Yogi credited the success to the state’s robust execution of key government schemes, including Har Ghar Jal, Har Ghar Bijli, Kanya Sumangala, Poshan Abhiyan, Mukhyamantri Arogya Yojana, Mission Shakti, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Mission Kayakalp, and One District One Product (ODOP). These programs, he said, have transformed lives at the grassroots level and strengthened public trust in governance.
He directed officials to pursue SDG implementation in “mission mode,” ensuring timely communication of scheme details to every Gram Panchayat and prompt delivery of benefits to all eligible citizens. He stressed that achieving SDG targets is a collective responsibility that involves every department, district, and Panchayat.
Underscoring the role of data in policy-making, CM Yogi instructed departments to compile and publish SDG profiles for each district.
“Data is not just a record—it’s the foundation of policy decisions,” he said. “Inaccurate or incomplete data neither shows the true picture nor helps in effective planning.”
The Chief Minister’s remarks reflect a strong push toward evidence-based governance and an inclusive development model that aligns with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. (Source: IANS)
