NEW DELHI — The US Embassy in India released a year-end retrospective on Wednesday, highlighting a series of high-profile diplomatic and strategic breakthroughs between Washington and New Delhi in 2025 while expressing confidence in an even more robust partnership for the coming year.

A video summary shared by the embassy featured several pivotal moments, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the White House earlier this year for a bilateral meeting with President Donald Trump. The footage also captured high-level diplomacy between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during the Quad Foreign Ministers Meeting.

Among the year’s top strategic achievements was the signing of a 10-year update to the Framework for the US-India Major Defense Partnership, an agreement aimed at deepening military cooperation and technology sharing through 2035. The embassy also spotlighted the launch of the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar, known as NISAR, which marked a new chapter in joint space and earth science research.

The recap also included personal diplomatic touches, such as US Vice President JD Vance’s official visit to India. During that trip, Prime Minister Modi hosted the Vice President, Second Lady Usha Vance, and their children at his official residence in New Delhi. On the personnel front, the year saw the appointment of Sergio Gor as the next US Ambassador to India.

Sharing the video on X, the US Embassy in India stated, “New year loading… but first, the rewind! Take a look back at the top moments that shaped the US-India partnership this year, while we get ready for another year of even stronger US India ties.”

The year-end reflections follow a recent telephonic conversation between Prime Minister Modi and President Trump, during which both leaders emphasized the need to maintain momentum in bilateral trade. Following the call, Modi shared his thoughts on the discussion online.

“Had a very warm and engaging conversation with President Trump. We reviewed the progress in our bilateral relations and discussed regional and international developments. India and the US will continue to work together for global peace, stability and prosperity,” Modi posted on X.

The leaders also reviewed the implementation of the India-US COMPACT (Catalyzing Opportunities for Military Partnership, Accelerated Commerce and Technology) for the 21st century. This initiative serves as a comprehensive roadmap for expanding cooperation in critical sectors such as energy, defense, and emerging technologies. (Source: IANS)
