FRAMINGHAM, MA—The United India Association of New England, a local non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve, promote and nurture the values of Indian heritage, will hold election for its President and other office bearers on Nov. 20 in Framingham, MA.
Neela Gandhi, President of United India Association, known as UIA, said elections will be held for all positions for the officers for executive committee and board of directors and advisors. Current officers are: President Dr. Neela Gandhi, Vice President Doly Raja, Treasurer Anil Sood and Secretary Rakashi Chand. Current Board of Directors are: Aruna Varshney, Sarla Kalra, Gyaneshwar Verma, Neeta Datta, Rakesh Soni, Surender Kapoor, Vibha Sood, Vikas Selhi, Aanch Jain and Sonia Sharma.
Gandhi said elections will be held on Sunday, Nov. 20th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 PM at Chinese Mirch Restaurant located at 140 Worcester Road, Framingham, MA.
The election committee members are: Jatinder Sharma of Brookline, Devinder Dutt, of Somerville, and Subhash Varshney of Burlington.
Gandhi, a dentist, has served president of UIA for a total of four years. She received her DMD degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2006. Prior to that, she earned her BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) degree from University of Manchester, UK in 1994. Dr. Gandhi practiced as an associate in Nairobi, Kenya for several years and also worked as a clinical associate in the Craniofacial Pain Center at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
In addition to her clinical practice, she contributes a tremendous time to organized dentistry. Dr. Gandhi is an active member of the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS) and is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.
Since 1984, UIA has been active in pursuing and implementing its core mission. In addition to other activities and functions, UIA regularly holds New Year’s Party in the ballroom of a premier hotel, seminars , a family picnic in summer and most importantly, a Diwali Celebration , rich with music, dance, and drama from many regions of India.
